Lucy is the Director of Biologics at CPI and leads the organisation’s National Biologics Manufacturing Centre. CPI is part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult and helps businesses and academia to accelerate and enable biotherapeutic candidates by supporting the design, development, optimisation, and demonstration of bespoke manufacturing processes. Lucy’s expertise covers microbial and mammalian expression systems and a wide range of products including monoclonal antibodies, viral vectors, recombinant proteins, microbial therapeutics and nanomedicines. Prior to her arrival, Lucy was a lecturer in Biopharmaceutical Engineering in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials at Newcastle University, and had also been a Research Fellow in Newcastle University Business School. A founding member of the ATMP Manufacturing Community, Lucy has a master’s degree in Biochemical Engineering with Bioprocess Management from University College London, and an Engineering Doctorate in Biochemical Engineering and Bioprocess Leadership from University College London.

Komal is the Associate Director, Intellectual Property and Trade Policy at IFPMA. She works with UN members states as well as international & regional organizations to promote global health solutions by advocating international best practices for IP protection, removal of market access barriers, and the need to create a sustainable ecosystem to incentivize innovation. Prior to IFPMA, Komal led the United States Patent & Trademark Office’s attaché office in South Asia. She holds a LLM in Intellectual Property from George Washington University and a BSc/LLB from the National University of Juridical Sciences. IFPMA: The International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufactures and Associations (IFPMA), based in Geneva, represents leading research-based biopharmaceutical companies, as well as national and regional industry associations, across five continents.
