Juliana is the Food Industry Safety, Compliance & Regulatory Solutions Specialist at NJMEP. She manages corporate training on Food Safety Modernization Act implementation of rules and regulations and Global Food Safety Initiative-recognized schemes across the MEP National Network, develops food safety online training on foundational elements, and oversees various client projects related to regulatory and customer requirements. Previously, she held the positions of HQ Manager, Food Safety & Quality Assurance at Plated (Plated joined Albertsons Companies in September 2017) and Acting Director of Food Safety, Quality Assurance, & Regulatory Affairs at a vertical farming company.

Jeffrey is a performance-driven individual with operations management and consulting experience who understands the concept of “value add.” Grounded in operational excellence early in his career with experience at Frito-Lay, Quaker Oats, and Borden Snacks, which was polished with hands-on consulting experience via the MEP National Network, Jeffrey is driven to improve quality and productivity in all aspects of plant operations utilizing lean manufacturing techniques. He has facilitated over 100 Kaizen events for companies, ranging in size up to $150 MM in annual revenue.

Barbara VanRenterghem, Ph.D., is the editorial director of Food Safety Magazine, a position she has held since 2008. From 2005–2008, she was the chief editor of Controlled Environments Magazine and the science editor of Animal Lab News and Lab Manager Magazine at Vicon Publishing. At Eaton Publishing (1999–2005), she rose from the positions of assistant scientific editor for BioTechniques and acquisitions editor for BioTechniques Press to the editor of content development and acquisitions and director of commercial product development. While at Eaton (then acquired by Informa), she served as the chief editor of Preclinica. She received a B.Sc. in biology in 1989 from Bowling Green State University and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology in 1994 from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
