Visio 2013 offers more than 70 templates that include dozens of stencils containing hundreds of shapes – yet most people use the same one or two templates over and over. For example, did you know you can create a brainstorming diagram in Visio? Or the layout for a heating and ventilation system? Or a marketing chart? Or a website map? Visio can help you do all of these things and more. In this session we will explore each of Visio’s template categories and will look at or create many different types of diagrams. You will definitely leave this session saying, “I didn’t know you could do that with Visio!”

Leveraging Visio: Hyperlinks plus six ways to exploit data and publish Visio diagrams

Two of the most significant ways to enhance the value of a Visio diagram are to incorporate data and to create hyperlinks to external locations; this session is a deep dive into hyperlinking and will demonstrate some of the more subtle but incredibly useful features of Visio hyperlinking. Not only will you learn how to link from a Visio shape to a Word document, you will also learn how to build a link that takes the reader directly to a specific word or phrase in that document. You’ll learn similar tricks for Excel and PowerPoint as well as how to create hyperlinks that automatically generate a pre-addressed email message. You will also learn how to leverage the data in your diagrams by creating and running reports. In the final segment you will learn multiple techniques for sharing your Visio diagrams with people who don’t have Visio.

A value stream map is a tool to study a production flow in the implementation of lean manufacturing. It plots the path of material and information from the supplier all the way through to the customer.
