Abstract:

Please note that this session is a webinar recording and not eligible for CPE. Do not miss this opportunity to learn more about or take a refresher on how to do tax research in your practice to defend certain tax positions.  This session will focus on how to perform tax research using free resources that are available online.  In this webinar, we will show you how to sort your findings based on the hierarchy of primary and secondary tax law authority.  Attendees will be shown various websites that can be utilized to do the research, how keywords are used to narrow down the different findings, and which professional guidelines to keep in mind when assisting your clients. After this webinar, attendees will be more equipped to defend the tax position they have taken on their client’s tax return or while defending the client during an audit.

Stephanie Sanchez is a Tax Analyst Programmer 2 at Intuit, where she recently celebrated her second anniversary after working in Public Accounting performing multiple functions, including bookkeeping, tax preparation, oil & gas valuations, and forensic/litigation/valuation services. She graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor & Master of Science in Accounting, specializing in Tax, and is currently pursuing her CPA certification. She is actively involved in various networks, like the Intuit Women’s Network, Intuit Latinos Network, and Tax Expert Community, while also continuously giving back to her community as a volunteer.

Nadia Rodriguez

Nadia Rodriguez is a Tax Analyst Programmer II at Intuit where she is part of the team that builds Lacerte and Intuit Tax Online content for individual and business tax professionals. Nadia earned her CPA license in 2009 and Masters in Taxation in 2007. Nadia has experience in Public Accounting where she performed tax planning projections and prepared tax returns for high net worth individuals and different types of businesses.
