James Lozier

James Lozier is a Member of Dickinson Wright in the firm's Lansing, Michigan office. Jim serves as the firm’s Chairperson of the Food & Agri-Business Practice Group. Jim focuses his practice on the defense and prosecution of food manufacturers; and is counsel to Natural Selection Food Manufacturing, LLC, E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Company, Dole Food Company, Inc., and Kraft Foods Global, Inc. in food safety related matters (e.g. spinach, e-coli, egg e-coli, & foreign material) and other general litigation (e.g. wrongful termination & wrongful death of contractor's employees). Jim has represented food producers in dealing with the FDA and state regulators in recall and food product withdrawals, and he has also counseled, evaluated and represented food industry clients on insurance claims for recall/product withdrawal expenses, recoupment of equipment breakdown costs, and in the defense of third party commercial, property damage, wrongful death, and personal injury claims involving food borne illness.

Steve Kluting

Steve is the Regional Director (Midwest) of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.'s Food & Ag Practice Group. Steve advises clients on risk planning related to contamination and recall events. Steve's experience as a “food lawyer”, a food industry executive, and a certified HACCP manager him to bring real food industry insight and solutions to the risk management function. Steve is particularly focused on helping clients plan for and navigate food safety incidents – from an operational, cost recovery and reputational risk perspective. In particular, Steve helps client evaluate, understand, and purchase Product Contamination/Product Recall insurance coverage, as well as navigate through claims/events.
