Kurt Roeper is the Director - Industry Affairs, Codes & Standards for ASSA ABLOY Americas. He is a member since 2002 of the ICC Consensus Committee on Storm Shelters, ICC 500 – “Standard for the Design and Construction of Storm Shelters”.
With an extensive background in fire safety, means of egress and accessibility, he is also a member of many code writing committees, including “NFPA 101 Life Safety Code “, “NFPA 5000 Building Construction & Safety Code”, “NFPA 80 – Standard for Fire Doors & Other Opening Protectives”, and “ANSI A117.1 – Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities”.
Kurt has been in the commercial openings industry for over 25 years, serving in a variety of technical positions. His involvement in building and life safety codes, testing and product certification spans his career with extensive work in North American, Latin American, European and Asian markets

Nelson Kraschel has been with ASSA ABLOY for 25 years, with experience in design, specification, and manufacture of commercial door and frame assemblies.
Directly involved in the product development and management of fire, sound, hurricane and tornado testing and certification, Nelson has held many positions, including manufacturing engineering, product engineering and operations management.

Chris Hill has been with Assa Abloy since 2006 and has 15 years of experience in the hardware industry. Chris has worked in the Cylinder, Bored lock, Mortise lock and Exit Device product categories as an engineer, project manager and product manager.
He has represented Assa Abloy at various BHMA standard committee meetings and holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA both from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Mark Brewer

Mark Brewer joined ASSA ABLOY in 1996 after a career in construction. Within ASSA ABLOY’s hotel key card division (VingCard), he held the position of Director of Business Development and was instrumental in launching ASSA ABLOY’s first access control products.
In his current position as Director of Education for ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions, Mark manages a staff of six instructors and learning management administrators.
Together, they develop and deploy over 100 online courses on assa abloy Americas University.com, as well as developing new instructor-led training programs taught in 6 employee training centers around the U.S.
Mark also serves as the Chairman of the ASSA ABLOY Global Learning Management Steering Committee, comprised of training leaders from Americas, APAC and EMEA.
Mark has earned the Architectural Hardware Consultant (AHC) designation, as certified by Door and Hardware Institute (DHI), and the Physical Security Professional (PSP) designation, as certified by American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS).

He was previously the editor of Environmental Design+Construction and Sustainable Facility magazines and spent the past few years as content manager for BNP Media’s Packaging Group before joining Food Engineering.
