Abstract:
All IT projects, regardless of size, type, platform or methodology have one characteristic in common: testing. Testing validates that new or altered system platform functionality continues to behave as expected without negative consequences. Testing also validates that any introduced change will not reduce previously delivered functionality; i.e., functional regression.
Thorough and accurate testing relies on the availability of data: data reflecting both static data structures, such as master files or relational databases, as well as altered data structures and, is the basis for validating new or changed business rules. Alterations could include a combination of new data fields/columns, tables or in many cases, completely new schema from new designed databases. The availability and purpose of test data is dependent on the logical testing environment, the type of project, the necessity for federated data sources and even the development methodology.
This webcast categorizes these varied conditions faced by customers and how the new IBM testing platform helps customers use technology to solve the basic problems facing IT departments. These problems include fulfilling test data needs quickly and matching internal customer needs while protecting PII.
