Matthew Fitzgerald
P.E.
Project Manager
Castle Contracting
Matthew joined Castle in 2017 to help expand its subsurface utility mapping (SUM) service in St. Louis and the Midwest. With SUM, Matthew and his team use a combination of state-of-the-art technologies, site survey data, historical data, and hydro-excavation to locate and identify unknown utility lines, incorporating the results into 2D or 3D civil information models that are used to improve project design, construction, and facility maintenance.
SUM is an integral part in executing civil construction projects at Castle as well as building projects at its sister company, McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. (Castle Contracting, LLC and McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. are both wholly owned subsidiaries of McCarthy Holdings, Inc.)
Matthew spent the previous six years designing roadways and bridges and performing construction inspection for transportation projects. Matthew leverages his technical background as an engineer with acute attention to detail and commitment to developing high-quality deliverables to provide clients with a better way to build and manage facilities through SUM.
In his role, Matthew is responsible for sales, account management, proposal and budget creation, project management, deliverable quality control, and resource scheduling for SUM services provided from the St. Louis office for Castle and McCarthy.
Matthew is passionate about educating construction consumers about SUM, because it is an opportunity to help create safer construction projects for clients as well as helping them achieve their facility management goals. Incorporating SUM into their plans allows clients to appreciate their history while applying new technologies to their design and construction programs—mapping the past to better design and build their future.
Matthew is a member of the Missouri Society for Healthcare Engineering (MOSHE) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE.)
Education
Matthew graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Missouri.
