Reimagining Small Business Lending

Start Date: 10/14/2021

Start Time: 2:00 PM EDT

Duration: 60 minutes

Abstract:

Even before the current pandemic, there have been major trends driving change within the retail and business credit sector, including regulatory changes, the opportunities of Open Banking, new alternative credit products like ‘buy now, pay later’ and POS  financing. As we begin to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for access to credit to support consumers, sustain businesses and bolster the economy is even greater. Will existing risk models based on historical data and existing processes to approve and issue credit be sufficient?

In this moderated discussion, TransUnion will provide a brief overview of Canadian small business credit market trends and highlight potential opportunities and risks in this segment. We will also host a panel of small business lenders from fintechs and financial institutions to discuss what they see will be key to reimagining credit for the future.
