Carbon Storage Series: Efficient Screening and Ranking of Carbon Storage Sites

START Date WAS:Wednesday, 3 April, 2024

START Time WAS:2:00 PM BST  (London, UK TIME)

Duration:45 minutes

Abstract:

Advanced digital technologies and domain expertise for de-risking CO₂ storage sites are fundamental to the pre-FID evaluation phase. The enhanced subsurface understanding these technologies enable can help accelerate projects to the next stage of development and ensure their overall safety and success. To support storage operators consistently identify and screen prospective storage sites, optimize CO2 storage performance, as well as monitor and verify storage compliance, different digital and hardware technologies may be utilize to collect and analyze relevant data. In part one of this three-part series, we explore how subsurface workflows to screen and rank potential storage sites using consistent and reliable science-based insights can technical and non-technical factors, while comprehending uncertainty and sensitivity to identify risks. Real world case studies will be shared.
