Carol B Tomé UPS Chief Executive Officer UPS Carol B. Tomé is the Chief Executive Officer of UPS. She is the 12th CEO in the 113-year history of the company.
Before joining UPS, Carol served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The Home Depot, Inc., one of the world’s largest retailers. She joined the company in 1995 as Vice President and Treasurer.
Carol began her career as a commercial lender with United Bank of Denver (now Wells Fargo) and then spent several years as Director of Banking for Johns-Mansville Corporation. Prior to joining The Home Depot, Carol was Vice President and Treasurer of Riverwood International Corporation.
Carol serves as a trustee or board member for a number of organizations including Grady Hospital Foundation, Atlanta Botanical Garden, Sovos Brands, Catalyst, and GIA Partners. She is also a member of The Committee of 200, The Buckhead Coalition, The Business Roundtable and The Business Council.
A native of Jackson, Wyoming, Carol holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Wyoming and a master’s degree in finance from the University of Denver.
Brian Newman Chief Financial Officer UPS Brian is UPS’s Chief Financial Officer, responsible for the strategic financial leadership of UPS, which includes communication of the firm’s strategy and performance to investors as well as managing the capital structure to maximize shareholder return. He oversees the company’s financial processes and controls and has responsibility for Global Procurement, Real Estate and Global Business Services (GBS), including customer service. Brian is also responsible for the company’s Capital Market activity including Treasury, M&A and UPS Capital. He is a member of the UPS Executive Leadership Team, reporting to the company’s CEO.
Prior to UPS, Brian spent 26 years with PepsiCo and served in a variety of finance leadership roles spanning Europe, Asia, North & South America. He also served as Executive Vice-President, for PepsiCo’s Global Operations responsible for global operations including supply chain, global procurement, global security, enterprise risk management and transformation. Brian served as the Chief Strategy Officer at PepsiCo and started up PepsiCo’s global ecommerce business. Brian began his career in 1990 as an Investment Banker working for PaineWebber in NYC.
A dual citizen of Ireland and the U.S., Brian serves on the board of Georgetown University’s Board of Regents and School of Foreign Service. He also serves on the Board of Part of the Solution (POTS), a leading non-profit organization in the Bronx assisting individuals living in poverty.
He is a graduate of Georgetown University and earned an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business. Brian also completed Harvard Business Schools’ Executive program for global leadership.
Nando Cesarone President, U.S. Operations UPS Nando Cesarone serves as President of U.S. Operations. In this role, Nando is responsible for all package delivery and logistics services, as well as UPS Airlines, for the world's largest economy.
Prior to his current role, Nando served as President of UPS International. He led the company's business operations in more than 220 countries and territories outside of the U.S. Prior, Nando served as president of UPS’s European operations. While there, he led UPS Europe to record business performance during the company’s five-year investment program into the region’s technology, network and infrastructure, which was designed to further improve speed, capacity and reliability.
Before his assignment as president of UPS Europe, Cesarone served as president of the Asia Pacific Region. While in Asia, he expanded UPS’s presence in vital emerging markets and China. He led strategic projects to accelerate intra-Asia transit times for key trade lanes connecting growth markets and launched new products including Trade Management Services, and China-to-Europe rail freight.
Cesarone received an MBA from Heriot Watt University - Edinburgh School of Business. He is a member of the executive committee of the American Chamber of Commerce to the EU, and also serves on the boards of the U.S.-India Business Council and the World Affairs Council of Atlanta.
Scott Price President, UPS International UPS Scott Price serves as President of UPS International. In this role, Scott oversees the company's business operations in more than 220 countries and territories outside of the United States.
Previously, Scott served as UPS’s Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer. He was responsible for strategic planning, Global Business Services and the company’s Advanced Technology Group, as well as driving and facilitating transformational change. These efforts include identifying and executing opportunities for profitable growth within existing business units and in new markets and product segments through the identification of resources that may be redirected to the highest strategic benefit and greatest shareholder value.
Before joining UPS, Scott served as Executive Vice President of Global Leverage for Walmart International. He led Global Sourcing, International Technology, International Logistics, Fresh Manufacturing and key strategic leverage initiatives for the company’s international segment. During his tenure with Walmart, he also served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Walmart Asia.
Prior to his time with Walmart, Scott served as CEO of DHL Express Europe. While at DHL he held a number of key leadership positions including CEO of DHL Express Asia-Pacific and President of DHL Express Japan, DHL's largest market in the Asia-Pacific region.
Previous to joining DHL, Scott spent a decade with The Coca-Cola Co. During that period, he assumed various roles of increasing responsibility, including country leadership positions in Japan and as a director and region manager in China.
Scott served as chairman of the National Center for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, the only U.S. business association focused exclusively on facilitating American private sector input to the APEC process and APEC’s 21 member countries. He was also one of three ABAC (APEC Business Advisory Council) members appointed by the White House in December 2016. He was previously a member of the U.S. India Business Council and served on the board of trustees for the University Of Virginia Darden School Of Business.
A Montana native, Scott earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. He also holds a master of business administration degree and a master’s degree in Asian studies from the University of Virginia.
Philippe Gilbert President, UPS Supply Chain Solutions UPS Philippe Gilbert is UPS’s President, Supply Chain Solutions, responsible for Global Logistics and Distribution, Global Freight Forwarding, as well as the technology-driven truckload freight brokerage business at Coyote.
Most recently, Gilbert served as Regional CEO of the Americas for DB Schenker Logistics, based in Miami, Florida. In this role he led air, ocean, CHB, land and logistics in the United States, Canada, and eight countries in Latin America. He previously was Regional CEO for West Europe from 2013 to 2015, based in Paris, France.
From 2005 to 2013, Gilbert served as Executive Vice President for GEODIS Wilson, the freight management division of international logistics provider, the GEODIS Group. There, he managed an integrated network of 57 countries around the world and more than 80 agents. Gilbert also held leadership roles in the logistics space with Circle International / Eagle Global Logistics (EGL) and Saga S.A. He is a member of the Board of Directors of UNICEF USA.
Gilbert earned a Finance degree from Institut Superieur de Gestion (I.S.G.) in Paris, France, and is fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese.
Kevin Warren Chief Marketing Officer UPS Kevin Warren is UPS’s Chief Marketing Officer and a member of the company’s Executive Leadership Team, responsible for U.S. Marketing, International Marketing, The UPS Store, Digital Infrastructure Analytics, Revenue Management, Business Planning & Forecasting, Customer Loyalty Management, Digital Marketing, Customer Experience, Brand Relevancy, Customer Communications, and the company’s Ware2Go subsidiary. His highly developed perspective on data centric business and non-traditional engagement channels is driving change at UPS and setting new standards in digitally enabled customer experience. As the e-commerce business era takes shape, Kevin is shaping those critical aspects of UPS strategy that will deliver the business of the future.
Most recently, Kevin served as Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer for Xerox Corporation, where he was responsible for marketing, worldwide channel strategy, salesforce effectiveness, and global client engagement for the company’s diverse portfolio of hardware, software, and services.
Previously, Kevin served as president of Global Growth Opportunities, responsible for accelerating revenue growth outside the United States. In addition, he had strategic oversight for two Xerox operating units, Global Imaging Systems and Xerox Canada, as well as leading the company’s 3-D printing strategy.
He also led the integration activity surrounding Xerox’s $1.5 billion purchase of Global Imaging Systems. In 2007, he was named chairman, president and chief executive officer of Xerox Canada and in 2010, was named president of U.S. Client Operations. Kevin joined Xerox in 1984 as a sales trainee in Washington, D.C.
He serves as a director of Illinois Tool Works, Fiserv, Georgetown University and the UPS Foundation. He is a current member of the Executive Leadership Council.
A native of Washington, D.C., Kevin received his Bachelor of Science in finance from Georgetown University and is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School, having completed the Advanced Management Program.
Kate Gutmann Chief Sales and Solutions Officer, Executive Vice President, UPS Global Healthcare UPS Kate Gutmann is Chief Sales and Solutions Officer, and a member of the company’s Executive Leadership Team. In this role she is responsible for global sales, solutions and customer engagement. Kate also oversees UPS Global Healthcare. Under her direction, UPS sales and solutions professionals are focused on deepening customer relationships by providing high impact, value-rich solutions, enabling customers to better compete in the global marketplace.
Prior to her current role, Kate had responsibility for the executive management of The UPS Store® and UPS Capital®. Previously, Kate was also President of Worldwide Sales and Vice President of Marketing for the UPS Europe Region, based in Brussels. In this role, she oversaw the development of rates, services and pricing policy in more than 100 countries.
Kate serves as a Board member for Brown-Forman Corporation and is also on the Audit Committee. Kate has participated in the World Economic Forum for many years and is on the Board of Stewards for Trade Technology. Kate is also co-founder of the UPS Reading Clubs at the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta.
A native of Troy, New York, Kate began her UPS career in 1989 as a marketing intern while earning her bachelor’s degree in marketing from Siena College.
Juan Perez Chief Information and Engineering Officer UPS Juan Perez is the Chief Information and Engineering Officer for UPS and a member of the UPS Executive Leadership Team, responsible for all technology and engineering functions. He was appointed to his current role in 2017 after having served as Chief Information Officer since 2016.
Previously, Juan was Vice President of Technology. Through different rotations in that role, he was responsible for technology systems supporting the company’s billing, financial, accounting, human resources, package operations, driver dispatch and operational planning, scanning, logistics, customer service and sales.
Juan’s leadership has generated greater operational efficiencies, customer service enhancements and environmental impact reductions. His career has included assignments in Operations, Industrial Engineering, Process Management and Technology in Corporate, U.S., and International business units. He currently manages a budget of $6 billion between Engineering and IT. His Engineering responsibilities include Industrial (planning, measurement, and quality), Plant (building construction, maintenance, and corporate sustainability), and Automotive (fleet management and support) Engineering including the Advanced Technology Group charged with defining the future operational technology strategy of UPS including robotics, autonomous transportation, and network optimization.
His work in technology and engineering helped develop ORION, the On-road Integrated Optimization and Navigation system that optimizes delivery routes to improve service and efficiencies. The efforts of the IT and business teams in developing this technology have yielded significant savings and service improvements to the company. His groups are currently building a new generation of driver routing and optimization technology that will dynamically optimize delivery and pickup routes to gain additional efficiencies.
Juan has been a driving force behind UPS’s adoption of advanced analytics, moving the company from descriptive analytics and a reliance on historical data to predictive analytics with customer and operational data as the foundation. UPS’s Package Flow Technologies, developed under Juan’s leadership, is a demonstration of the many benefits that the linkage between data, analytics, technology and operational know-how bring to UPS’s customers and operations. Juan has also supported the development and deployment of several customer facing solutions like the UPS Access Point™ Network technology, the application of artificial intelligence in customer service, and mobility. Through efforts like these, Juan has secured several patents that protect UPS’s intellectual property.
Juan also continues to lead the implementation of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual assistants and virtual reality solutions for driver training in UPS.
In 2013, Juan was recognized by Computerworld as a Premier 100 IT Leader. In 2015 and 2017, he was recognized as one of the top 100 Hispanic IT leaders by the Hispanic IT Executive Council (HITEC). The Atlanta Telecom Professionals (ATP) awarded him with the 2015 Leadership Award recognizing UPS’s leadership in technology. He was recognized in 2016 as a Top Latino Leader by the Council for Latino Workplace Equity. He was named CIO of the Year in 2017 by CIO Dive. In 2018, Juan was honored with the “Distinguished Mexican” Award from the Mexican Government for his personal and career achievements in the US. And he was named 2018 CIO of the Year by the Georgia CIO Leadership Association in the Super Global category at its annual CIO of the Year® ORBIE® Awards. Juan was ranked 43 in the Latino Leaders Magazine 2020 list of the 101 Most Influential Latinos as well as named to theboardiQ Hall of Fame LatinX | Hispanic Top 100 Honorees.
Juan holds a BS in Industrial and Systems Engineering and an MS in Computer and Manufacturing Engineering, from the University of Southern California. He is a senior member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers and the American Society for Quality and holds several professional certificates in project management, business administration and IT management. He also serves as a program evaluator for the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) and was a lecturer at USC for seven years where he taught courses in engineering economy, quality control, industrial engineering, and operations management.
In 2019, Juan was named a member of the Hershey Company’s Board of Directors. He is the executive advisor for the UPS Latino Business Resource Group, which supports diversity across the enterprise, and he is a trustee of the Southeast Region’s Boys and Girls Club. Juan is an active member of his church and community.
Norman M. Brothers, Jr. Norm Brothers is UPS’s Chief Legal and Compliance Officer. He leads the company’s Legal, Internal Audit, Compliance and Privacy functions as well as its Global Labor Relations and Global Security Operations.
In this role, he is responsible for identifying and managing enterprise-wide legal risks and ensuring compliance with international, federal, state, and local laws in the more than 200 countries where UPS operates around the world. He is a member of the company's Executive Leadership Team, which is responsible for long-term strategy and operating plans for the company's worldwide operations. He also serves as UPS’s Corporate Secretary, advising and supporting the UPS Board of Directors.
Norm began his UPS career in 2000 as an attorney in the Corporate Legal Department. He has led various legal practice areas including litigation, privacy, corporate, business development, regulatory compliance and international. He previously served as the company’s Vice President and Deputy General Counsel.
Prior to joining UPS, Norm served on active duty as a captain in the U.S. Army, where he was a military prosecutor in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He also practiced at the international law firm King & Spalding.
Norm received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his law degree from Emory University School of Law. He has attended executive education courses at the Yale School of Management and The Wharton School.
Norm serves on the board of directors for the U.S. Chamber Litigation Center, The Georgia Justice Project, and Reach for Excellence. He also is the Chair of the Emory University Board of Visitors, and serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of Marist School, the Executive Committee of the Corporate Counsel Section of the Georgia Bar, and is a member of the Law and Judiciary Committee of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. Norm was a member of the Leadership Atlanta Class of 2015.
Darrell Ford Darrell Ford serves as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for UPS. Prior to joining UPS, Darrell was the CHRO at DuPont. In addition to leading DuPont’s H.R. functions and activities, Darrell was integral in helping shape the company’s culture, with a focus on talent to increase customer and shareholder value. He achieved similar results in previous roles with Xerox, Advanced Micro Devices, Shell and Honeywell in his 30-year career.
Elected to the Executive Leadership Council (ELC) and recognized by several professional organizations and magazines as one of the Most Influential Executives globally, Darrell earned his bachelor’s, MBA and Juris Doctor degrees from Rutgers University.
Laura Lane Laura Lane is Chief Corporate Affairs, Communications and Sustainability Officer. In this role she oversees Public Policy and Government Affairs, Public Relations, Employee Communications, and the UPS Foundation and is a member of UPS’s Executive Leadership Team reporting to CEO Carol Tomé.
Laura began her UPS career as president, Global Public Affairs in 2011 and was responsible for worldwide government affairs activities for UPS in over 220 countries and territories. She managed a global team of over 80 government affairs and strategic communications professionals. In a short time, she strengthened UPS growth and competitiveness, including successfully advocating for comprehensive tax reform; enhancing network efficiencies through infrastructure investments; securing alternative fuel credits in support of sustainability; working to modernize trade agreements and customs processes; leveling the playing field with postal networks; facilitating UPS Flight Forward certification; and advocating for laws that promote equity and justice in the workplace.
Prior to joining UPS, Laura served in both the public and private sectors. She was managing director and head of International Government Affairs at Citigroup and vice president for Global Public Policy with Time Warner.
In her government career, Laura served as a trade negotiator in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative in the negotiation of China’s entry to the World Trade Organization (WTO), the WTO Financial Services Agreement and the WTO Basic Telecommunications Agreement. She also served as a diplomat in the U.S. Foreign Service from 1990-1997, including serving as consular/economic officer in Bogota, Colombia and then at the American Embassy in Kigali, Rwanda. In Rwanda, she led evacuation efforts during the outbreak of civil war and returned as political advisor to U.S. forces providing humanitarian relief in the post-conflict environment. In a recent TED Talk, Laura describes that first-hand account and the importance of advocating for positive change.
Laura currently serves as co-chair of the President’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa (PAC-DBIA). She is also a member of the Board of UNHCR USA and previously served as a U.S. government appointed delegate for the APEC Business Advisory Council. Laura is a member of the board of several U.S. business associations and non-profits, including serving on the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital.
Laura graduated summa cum laude from Loyola University with a Bachelor’s degree in political science and history. As a Truman Scholar, she also graduated summa cum laude from Georgetown University with a Master of Science degree in foreign service in international economics and business diplomacy.
Charlene Thomas Charlene Thomas serves as Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer for UPS and is a member of the company’s Executive Leadership Team. In her previous role of Chief Human Resources Officer, she guided UPS’s transformation and HR initiatives to optimize the talent, leadership and culture for the company’s more than 528,000 employees worldwide.
Previously, she served as President of the West Region with responsibility for all package delivery operations in the U.S. central and western states.
Charlene began her UPS career in 1989, progressing through successive leadership roles in U.S. Operations, including the West Chester, PA and Metro Philadelphia District. She served as package division manager in Baltimore, and operations manager for the Alabama District. She later joined the Desert Mountain District as West Operations package operations manager and was promoted to President, Mid-South District and later President, North Atlantic District. Charlene also has held roles in global marketing, corporate learning and talent development as the U.S. operations training director.
Recently, Charlene served on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee, Orangewood Foundation in Orange County, CA and as an executive board member for Habitat for Humanity. Charlene is also a member of The Executive Leadership Council. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Temple University and an MBA from Eastern University.
Scott Childress Investor Relations Officer UPS Scott began his UPS career in 1997 supporting the UPS Air Group. Later that year, he was promoted into management and held a variety of accounting and finance positions with the UPS Airline. Additionally, Scott has held a variety of global leadership positions including Director of International Reporting and Planning, CFO of Canada (based in Toronto), VP of Finance for Europe (based in Brussels), and CFO of the Americas Region (based in Miami). Scott has more than ten years of experience in the UPS International segment, seven years of UPS Airlines experience and he has been engaging directly with investors for more than five years.
Scott now leads the Investor Relations team at UPS with responsibility for all investor engagements including quarterly earnings calls, the Annual Shareowner meeting, as well as ongoing investor communications and engagements.
Scott holds a Master of Science in Economics from the University of Kentucky as well as an MBA and an undergraduate degree from Eastern Kentucky University.
