On Demand Until October 29, 2021 Abstract: With the increasing regulatory & environmental requirements and the growing expectations of end users, the development of a high-performance water-borne coating system has become a challenge. Silicones have long been used to improve weatherability, water resistance and mar resistance, but the incorporation of silicone materials into waterborne organic resin compositions is often difficult due to fundamental incompatibility and immiscibility. This presentation will describe an innovative product based on Momentive’s waterborne hydrophobic silicone resin and additive technology platform. This innovative structure enables this product to overcome the difficulties of combining silicone materials with organic waterborne resins. This new WB silicone resin can help reduce water uptake and improve UV resistance in latex systems. It has also been shown to offer stain resistance and flexibility/elongation, when used in coating or sealant formulations. The potential applications of this resin in various coating formulations, such as architectural paints, wood coatings and concrete coatings, will be discussed. Can't attend live?
