Stephen Censky

Deputy Secretary of Agriculture

United States Senate

Mr. Censky is the Deputy Secretary for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He was sworn-in on October 11, 2017 after being unanimously confirmed by the Senate. Mr. Censky previously served for the past 21 years as CEO of the American Soybean Association, a national, not-for-profit trade association that represents United States soybean farmers on policy and trade. Mr. Censky began his career working as a legislative assistant for Senator Jim Abdnor (R-SD). Later he served in both the Reagan and George H. W. Bush Administrations at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, eventually serving as Administrator of the Foreign Agricultural Service where he was involved in running our nation’s export programs. Mr. Censky received his B.S. in Agriculture from South Dakota State University and his Postgraduate Diploma in Agriculture Science from the University of Melbourne, Australia. He grew up on a soybean, corn, and diversified livestock farm near Jackson, Minnesota. He and his wife Carmen have two daughters.

Dr. Barbara Glenn


National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA)

Dr. Barbara Glenn joined the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) as CEO in 2014.

NASDA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit association which represents the elected and appointed commissioners, secretaries and directors of the departments of agriculture in all fifty states and four U.S. territories.

Dr. Glenn is a scientist with decades of experience as a researcher, policy leader and advocate for agriculture. She previously held leadership positions with CropLife America and the Biotechnology Innovation Organization in Washington, DC. Earlier in her career she led governmental affairs for the Federation of Animal Science Societies. For 17 years, she conducted dairy cattle nutrition research for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service. She was the first woman to serve as president of the American Society of Animal Science.

Dr. Glenn holds a B.S. in animal science and a Ph.D. in ruminant nutrition from the University of Kentucky. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska and raised in Centerville, Ohio, Dr. Glenn developed a passion for agriculture from her parents and her involvement in 4-H. The Glenn’s have three grown children who are 4-H alumni and live on a small farm in Maryland. Barb serves on various local boards for farm bureau, 4-H and ag education.

Megan Boyanton


Bloomberg Government

Megan U. Boyanton reports on the agriculture policy beat for Bloomberg Government in Washington, D.C. She is a member of the Overseas Press Club and the North American Agricultural Journalists. Megan previously reported on the social justice beat as a Washington correspondent for Arizona PBS.

Megan traveled to Lima, Peru, last March as an Arizona PBS borderlands reporter to cover the ongoing Venezuelan refugee crisis. She was also based in London, England, to report on LGBTQ+ issues at PinkNews in 2015.

She graduated from Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication with her master's degree in mass communication. Megan is a White House Correspondents' Association scholar.

Cliff Johnson

General Manager and Head of Government Affairs Solutions

Cliff Johnson is the General Manager and Head of Government Affairs Solutions at Bloomberg Government. He has more than 20 years of public affairs experience and previously held senior executive positions at the National Journal Leadership Council, Direct Marketing Association and the National Association of Manufacturers. Cliff holds an M.B.A. from The McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University and a B.A. in Law and Society from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
