Abstract:

The webinar will provide a Review Committee for Ophthalmology update. Topics include the revised Program Requirements for Graduate Medical Education in Ophthalmology effective July 1, 2021, annual program reviews in the time of COVID-19, and recent activities of the Committee and the ACGME. Attendees are encouraged to bring questions as ample time will be provided for a dialogue with Committee members.

Dr. Lauer is Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Casey Eye Institute, Oregon Health and Science University.

Sophia Chung, MD

Dr. Chung is a Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Iowa.

Natalie Kerr, MD

Dr. Kerr is Vice Chair for Education and Pediatric Ophthalmology Division Chief at the Hamilton Eye Institute, University of Tennessee.

Kathleen Quinn-Leering, PhD

Executive Director, Review Committees for Ophthalmology

ACGME

Dr. Quinn-Leering joined the ACGME in 2017, and is the Executive Director for the Review Committees for Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ophthalmology, and Urology. Prior to joining the ACGME, Dr. Quinn-Leering worked at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) as the Education Program Manager in the Department of Graduate Medical Education (GME) and before that the Department of Neurosurgery. During her time at MCW, she directed the institution’s accreditation activities, including oversight of over 85 programs, and presented both locally and nationally on GME topics. Dr. Quinn-Leering began her career as a researcher at Case Western Reserve University and Kent State University. She has published and presented on the topics of prosocial development, school violence, and special needs childcare. Dr. Quinn-Leering earned her PhD in educational psychology from the University of Michigan, and holds a BA in psychology from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
