Abstract:
Take a lava-formed tabletop mountain, add 19,200 acres of old-growth forest and prairie grasses, largely set aside and little used for many decades, and you’ve got a recipe for a new state park. Rising as an icon above Trinidad, Fishers Peak was long inaccessible to the citizens who lived below it, as it was on private land. A consortium of individuals, state agencies and national organizations, including the Trust for Public Land and the Nature Conservancy, have worked to change that situation. Today, Fishers Peak is the state’s newest park. Its development will take years, but it’s open to the public and offers unseen and untrammeled paths for us to explore! So, put on your virtual hiking boots and let’s hit the trail in Fishers Peak State Park!

Speakers
Kevin Snow Kevin Snow started his career as an ESL teacher. The last school he taught at worked with adult immigrants from more than seventy countries around the world. He began to show them around Denver, introducing them to their new homes, sharing his interest in history. When that school closed, he decided to continue as a tour guide, running Denver History Tours and now Treasure Box Tours. Today, Kevin leads tours around the metro area, the state and region, as well as two (so far!) trips out of the country. He may grow up one day, but for now there's too much fun to be had on the sidewalks (in person or electronically) of the city.
