The Role of Nanofiltration in Dairy Ingredients

START DATE: ON DEMAND THROUGH SEPTEMBER 25, 2020

Duration:60 minutes

Abstract:

Many dairy facilities are exploring what membrane processes they can implement and the additional ingredients they can produce to draw further value from their dairy processing. A panel of experts from various backgrounds in the dairy industry will discuss Nanofiltration (NF) and how it can be effectively implemented in a dairy plant.

The discussion will include the characteristics of an NF membrane, the element construction, as well as considerations for selecting the ideal element. We will review typical dairy applications using membrane technology and explore how NF contributes to high quality products and ingredients. Last, we will look at the operational set points of an NF machine in production and in cleaning.

Learning Objectives:

  • General knowledge of an NF membrane and what to consider when selecting the ideal element
  • Understand the strengths and limitations of NF technology
  • Discover how NF technology is used in several dairy applications
  • Learn the operational details of an NF system
