Kevin D. Deane, MD/PhD. Dr. Deane is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado. His research investigates how rheumatoid arthritis develops, and finding ways to prevent disease. in particular, he is the principal investigator on the NIH-funded ‘StopRA’ study which is the first prevention study in the USA for rheumatoid arthritis.

M. Kristen Demoruelle, MD/PhD. Dr. Demoruelle is an Associate Professor in the University of Colorado School of Medicine Division of Rheumatology. Her research program focuses on understanding how immune dysregulation at mucosal sites contributes to the development of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and how mucosal sites may contribute to sex differences in RA. She is also the Director the University of Colorado’s Rheumatology Women’s Health Program that was developed to advance clinical, research and educational activities around women’s health issues in rheumatology.

Barbara joined the Arthritis Foundation in May 2021 with previous executive director and senior leadership roles with the March of Dimes, the National Stroke Association and the Alzheimer’s Association. Originally from a family farm in Iowa, she has lived in Colorado for 22 years. Barbara’s focus is to increase the education, awareness and conversations surrounding arthritis and the Arthritis Foundation’s mission to fight for a cure for America’s #1 cause of disability.
