SpeakersEvan Goldfisher, MD, MBA, CPI, FACS Premier Medical Group of the Hudson Valley PC Secretary, LUGPA Chair, LUGPA Program Committee Dr. Evan Goldfischer received his BA from Tufts University and his MD from Cornell University Medical College. He completed his internship in general surgery and his residency in Urology at the University of Chicago. He completed a fellowship in Endourology under the direction of Arthur Smith at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Goldfischer received his MBA from the University of Massachusetts and is a Certified Physician Executive. He served as the co-founding CEO of Premier Medical Group of the Hudson Valley as well as founding Director of Research. He has written over 100 peer-reviewed abstracts and publications and has lectured on six continents. He was elected to the LUGPA Board of Directors in 2014. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Practice Management for Urology Groups: LUGPA’s Guidebook published in 2017, and is the author of Even Urologists Get Kidney Stones – A Guide to Prevention and Treatment, published in 2018.
Gary M. Kirsh, MD TOLMAR Dr. Kirsh is the President of The Urology Group, a 35-urologist integrated group practice headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Kirsh has served as the group’s President since 2009. The Urology Group is an independent urology company serving all regions of Cincinnati’s metropolitan area. The group owns and operates its own surgical, imaging, laboratory, radiation and clinical research services and is the largest provider of urologic care to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky/Eastern Indiana metropolitan service region of over two million lives.
In 2008, Dr. Kirsh was instrumental in founding LUGPA. Over the past decade, it is estimated that LUGPA has grown to represent at least 30% of practicing urologists and about 35% of the urology care in America. Dr. Kirsh has served as Secretary, President-Elect, and President (2014-2016) of LUGPA. Currently, Dr. Kirsh is the Chair of the LUGPA Political Affairs Committee.
Dr. Kirsh has frequently spoken to urologists across the country on the socioeconomic and political issues facing urology and organized medicine. He has maintained longstanding relationships with various legislators and their staffs and has provided legislative testimony in support of physicians’ issues at both the state and Congressional levels.
Clinically, Dr. Kirsh has special interest in prostate cancer, and, more recently, in advanced prostate cancer. He is the director of the Advanced Prostate Cancer Clinic at The Urology Group and lectures often on this topic.
Dr. Kirsh earned his medical degree from the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine in 1984. He completed his urology residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1989. Dr. Kirsh resides in Cincinnati, Ohio with his wife Nora. Their two adult children reside in Boston and Washington, DC.
Scott Sellinger, MD, FACS Advanced Urology Institute, LLC Board of Directors, LUGPA Dr. Scott Sellinger has been a partner at Southeastern Urological Center, now a division of Advanced Urology Institute, since 1991. He received his B.S. degree in Chemistry from Syracuse University, and attended Medical School at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He completed his Urology residency at the University of Florida and has lived in Tallahassee for the past 29 years. He was President of the Capital Medical Society in 2003, and served as President of the Florida Urological Society in 2005. In March 2018, he became President of the Southeastern Section of the AUA, where he served a one-year term. He is currently serving as President of the American Association of Clinical Urologists (AACU). Dr. Sellinger has developed a special interest in risk management and prevention of medical errors and has lectured extensively on this subject matter over the past several years. He is also interested in large group practice development and management. As President of Advanced Urology Institute (AUI) Tallahassee Division, he serves on the Board of AUI, representing his care center in one of the largest independent urology practices in the US. He is Chairman of the Advanced Prostate Cancer (APC) Committee and oversees six APC clinics. Since 2015, Dr. Sellinger has served on the LUGPA Board of Directors, where he helps represent over 2300 Urologists by working to preserve and advance the independent practice of urology.
Richard G. Harris, MD UroPartners President, LUGPA Dr. Richard Harris attended the University of Chicago high school, Washington University in
St. Louis and the Chicago Medical School. He did his residency in general surgery and urology at
Loyola University Medical Center. He was a founding member and is now the CEO and President
of Uropartners, an integrated urology/pathology/radiation oncology practice with over 60 physicians. He has been in the private practice of urology in Chicago for the last 30 years.
Dr. Harris has been involved in pharmaceutical research and has performed over 100
clinical trials in drug development. He has served on the board of LUGPA for the last 9 years and is currently President. His main interest in urology is prostate cancer and specifically metastatic castrate resistant prostate cancer. Dr. Harris is an assistant clinical professor of urology at Loyola University
Medical Center.
Eugene Y. Rhee, MD, MBA Southern California Permanente Medical Group Dr. Eugene Rhee is the National Chair of the Kaiser Permanente (KP) Interregional Urology Chiefs Group and the Regional Coordinating Chief of Urology for KP Southern California, directing urologic care for 11.8 million lives in the United States. He also serves as the Area Assistant Medical Director for Business & Strategy for KP San Diego. He is the 2013-2014 American Urologic Association (AUA) Gallagher Health Policy Scholar. He is a past president of the California Urological Association and the San Diego Urologic Society. He served as the inaugural Section Editor for Health Policy for Urology Practice. He serves as Chair of the AUA Western Section Health Policy Committee, serves on the AUA Legislative Affairs Committee and is Co Chair of the AUA Telemedicine Committee, exploring the role of telemedicine in urologic care. He has served on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Clinical Urologists as its West- ern Section Representative. Dr. Rhee is considered an international expert in the field of incontinence, urologic reconstruction, and minimally invasive techniques for BPH and is Co-Director of a Sexual Medicine / Reconstruction fellowship with Dr Irwin Goldstein. Dr. Rhee earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia and completed his residency at the Kaiser Permanente Foundation Hospitals in Los Angeles, California. He received both his Bachelor of Science in Biology and his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Emory University. He received his MBA from The Anderson School of Management at UCLA in 2008 and is a graduate of the 2010-2011 AUA Leadership Class.
David M. Albala, MD Associated Medical Professionals of NY, PLLC Board of Directors, LUGPA Dr. David M. Albala graduated with a geology degree from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. He completed his medical school training at Michigan State University and went on to complete his surgical residency at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Following this, Dr. Albala was an endourology fellow at Washington University Medical Center under the direction of Ralph V. Clayman. He practiced at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago and rose from the ranks of Instructor to full Professor in Urology and Radiology in eight years. After 10 years at Loyola University, he became a tenured Professor at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina. At Duke, he was Co-Director of the Endourology fellowship and Director for the Center of Minimally Invasive and Robotic Urological Surgery. He has over 180 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has authored three textbooks in endourology and two in general urology. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Robotic Surgery. He serves on the editorial board for Reviews in Urology, Urology Practice, Current Opinions in Urology and Urology Index and Reviews. He serves as a reviewer for eight surgical journals.
At the present time he is Chief of Urology at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, New York. He is considered a national and international authority in laparoscopic and robotic urological surgery and has been an active teacher in this area for over 20 years. His research and clinical interests have focused on robotic urological surgery and biomarkers used in prostate cancer. In addition, other clinical interests include minimally invasive treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) and the use of fibrin sealants in surgery. He has been a Visiting Professor at numerous institutions across the United States as well as overseas in countries such as India, China, Iceland, Germany, France, Japan, Brazil, Australia, and Singapore. In addition, he has done operative demonstrations in over 32 countries and 23 states. He has trained 19 fellows in endourology and advanced robotic surgery.
In addition, Dr. Albala is a past White House Fellow who acted as a special assistant to Federico Pena, Secretary of Transportation, on classified and unclassified public health related issues.
Michael L. Kreager KreagerMitchell Mike Kreager, the founder of the firm, is a business attorney and is board certified in tax law, having practiced in San Antonio for more than 40 years. He advises private companies, individuals and non-profit organizations on business and tax law matters. In addition, Mike represents physician practices and other medical providers, medical facilities and medical device companies.
The Texas Medical Association published two of Mike’s books: (1) Employment Contracts for Physicians: The Comprehensive Guide, in its third edition (2018) and (2) What’s My Practice Worth – A Comprehensive Guide to Practice Valuations and Sales (2016.) The books are valued resources to the medical community and allow physicians to meet their minimum continuing medical education requirements.
Mike’s article on Texas physician covenants not to compete is generally considered to be the definitive work on the topic. The article is published in the Baylor Law Review in volume 61, pages 357-541. The article has been cited in Texas court cases, appellate briefs and other secondary materials. Mike speaks often at continuing education programs on business, tax and physician-related topics.
Mike obtained two cutting edge private letter rulings from the Internal Revenue Service, opening new solutions for his clients. Private Letter Ruling 200226045, April 2, 2002, permitting the partial defeasance of an irrevocable charitable lead annuity trust. Private Letter Ruling 201446025, April 20, 2104, permitting the conversion of a public charity from a Texas corporation to an Arizona corporation without the necessity of filing a new exemption application.
During his career, Mike has been active in the San Antonio community, serving on the boards of numerous charitable organizations, including serving as board chair of BioBridge Global, the San Antonio Medical Foundation, the San Antonio Chapter of the American Red Cross and the South Texas Blood & Tissue Foundation.
Jason M. Hafron, MD Michigan Institute of Urology Dr. Jason Hafron is a partner at Michigan Institute of Urology (MIU), an Associate Professor of Urology at the William Beaumont School of Medicine, Oakland University and the Director of Robotic Surgery at Beaumont Health in Royal Oak, Michigan. He specializes in the care of patients with bladder, kidney and prostate cancer.
Dr. Hafron is also the Director of Clinical Research at MIU and has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles on topics related to his clinical expertise and presented at many national and international scientific meetings. He is the recipient of many clinical research awards. Currently, Dr. Hafron is the principal investigator for multiple clinical research trials at MIU.
Gordon A. Brown, DO New Jersey Urology, LLC Board certified by the American Osteopathic Association, Dr. Gordon Brown completed a urologic oncology fellowship at the UTMD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. He specializes in the treatment of prostate cancer and serves as Director of Delaware Valley Urology’s Center for Advanced Therapeutics and Program Director of Urologic Surgery at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine.

Mara R. Holton, MD Anne Arundel Urology, PA Board of Directors, LUGPA Dr. Mara Holton graduated from Temple University School of Medicine in 2001. She received her surgical and urology training at the University of Maryland Medical Center. She is certified by the American Board of Urology and is licensed in the state of Maryland. She is clinically focused on the care of women’s urological and pelvic floor health and has served as the CEO of her group, Anne Arundel Urology, for the past 4 years. She is a Board member of LUGPA, a member of the American Urological Association and is the founder and director of the Women’s Wellness Center at Anne Arundel Urology.
