Abstract
New and advanced HVACR systems are becoming more complex, and the ability to remotely manage and monitor variables such as—temperature, humidity, pressure, and refrigerant leaks—is no longer a luxury, it’s a necessity. This session dives into practical strategies for controlling and monitoring multiple pieces of equipment at multiple locations, catching issues early, and streamlining maintenance, all while staying compliant with new A2L refrigerant safety requirements. This provides a more proactive approach to servicing, minimizing downtime. We’ll share field-tested approaches for:
- Utilizing a modular electronic control to meet hundreds of HVAC-R applications
- Integrating the cloud-based dashboards to continuously monitor HVAC-R system health.
- Setting up system alerts via text or email to cut site visits and facilitate troubleshooting
 Keith Gifford Senior Global Product Manager Johnson Controls Keith Gifford is a Global Product Manager with PENN Controls, a Johnson Controls brand. In his role, he is responsible for the strategic direction of the PENN product line and commercialization of the Hitachi Scroll Compressor product line in North America. He has been with Johnson Controls for 10 years, rejoining the company in 2019. In previous roles, Keith held product management roles with Danfoss and Tecumseh Products Company. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Bowling Green State University. Keith has been in the HVACR industry for 38 years.  Bill Merritt Director of BD JCI Bill Merritt is the Director of Business Development with PENN Controls, a Johnson Controls brand. In his role, he is responsible for Global Refrigeration Products (PENN controls and Hitachi scroll compressors.) He has been with Johnson Controls for 6 years. In previous roles, Bill held senior positions with Tecumseh Products Company and Allied Signal Corp./Honeywell. Bill has been in the HVACR industry for 37 years.
