Speakers .jpg) Damon Sutherland Senior Vice President Assante As Senior Vice-President, Sales & Wealth Services at Assante Private Client and Stonegate Private Counsel, Damon leads and coordinates the firm’s multi-disciplined sales and wealth planning professionals who provide support to Assante and Stonegate advisors and their clients. His focus is on the effective delivery of our practice-oriented service teams that work alongside advisors to enhance their service offering and help deliver a truly comprehensive client experience.
Damon has 17 years of investment industry experience. He joined Assante in 2003 and transitioned to a sales role at CI Investments in 2005. From 2008 to 2017, Damon was Vice-President of Sales at CI, working with Assante advisors to help them grow and enhance their businesses. Damon holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Guelph
 Sean Etherington President Assante Wealth Management, CIM Sean Etherington is President of Assante Wealth Management, one of Canada’s largest independent wealth management firms. As President, Sean is responsible for Assante’s vision and the overall strategic plan for the organization, working to support both Assante advisors and the continued growth of the company. Sean has 19 years of investment industry experience. He joined CI Investments in 1999 and Assante Wealth Management in 2004. Most recently, Sean was Senior Vice-President, Sales & Wealth Services at Assante Private Client and Stonegate Private Counsel. In this role, Sean managed a national team of sales, wealth planning and insurance professionals who partner with advisors to provide comprehensive wealth management services to clients. Prior to joining the CI group of companies, Sean worked in sales at the O’Donnell Group of Funds. Sean is a graduate of Queen’s University and completed the Chartered Investment Manager designation in 2009. He also received the Advanced Executive Certificate in General Management from The Smith School of Business, Queen's University, in 2016.
 Robert Swanson MBA, CFA, Principal & Portfolio Manager CI Global Asset Management Robert Swanson serves as a Principal and Portfolio Manager at Cambridge Global Asset Management. He is the co-manager of Cambridge Asset Allocation, Cambridge Monthly Income Fund and Cambridge Global High-Income Fund and manages the Canadian equity strategies for Cambridge’s Institutional clients.
Robert’s career in the investment industry began in 1983 and he joined Cambridge in 2011. Prior to joining Cambridge, Robert was lead manager of several mutual funds at Fidelity Investments with combined assets under management exceeding $20 billion.
Robert holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Northern Illinois University, an MBA from Northwestern University and the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Mr. Swanson is associated with CI Global Investments Inc., a firm registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and an affiliate of CI Investments Inc. Certain funds associated with Cambridge Global Asset Management are sub-advised by CI Global Investments Inc.
 Cheryl B. Norton Regional Vice-President, Wealth Planning Assante Private Client, a division of CI Private Counsel LP As Regional Vice-President, Wealth Planning, Cheryl B. Norton works closely with our high net worth clients to identify issues and provide complex, tactical wealth planning support that complements their wealth plans. Cheryl has a particular focus on tax and estate planning strategies for business owners, farmers, professionals and other affluent individuals and families.
Cheryl joined Assante Private Client in 2018 after delivering tax planning services primarily in two multinational public accounting firms, as well as holding senior tax and estate planning positions in the financial services and insurance industry. Cheryl’s expertise includes tax, estate and trust planning, business succession planning, intergenerational wealth transfer strategies, risk management, philanthropy and charitable giving. Her overall professional experience in tax and wealth planning exceeds 17 years.
Cheryl is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Windsor. She has also obtained her Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation. In addition, Cheryl is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia (CPABC) and has completed the CICA In-Depth Tax Course and has acted as a group leader for this course.
