Abstract:

Do you need some support in developing your sunscreen formulation? Are you in a hurry to reformulate your sun protection product? Then join our webinar on DSM's SUNSCREEN OPTIMIZER™, a free, virtual lab, compatible with mobile and tablet devices that enables you to formulate right away and evaluate different UV filter combinations side-by-side. In this webinar, our experts will demonstrate and visualize, for the first time, the principles behind the calculations and provide tips on how to become familiar with this application. There will be several examples showing how you may efficiently optimize your sunscreens, by taking advantage of various features this tool offers. In addition, we will present recently added features that allow even more possibilities to compare different ideas and illustrate how you can create a personalized archive to store your results. The training will allow you to reduce time and costs in the development of sun protection products essential to skin cancer prevention.

Alexander Schlifke, an Austrian national, studied Organic Chemistry at the Technical University of Vienna (Austria), where he obtained his summa cum laude MA with a master thesis on new galantamine isomers for the treatment of Alzheimer’s. He received his PhD for his development of novel specific carbohydrate-based adsorbers for extracorporeal blood purification (cooperation with the Center for Biomedical Technology at Danube University Krems Austria). Part of his thesis he spent at the Institut de Biologie Moléculaire et Cellulaire (CNRS, Straßburg, France) where he performed peptide synthesis on his novel supports. He then joint DSM Personal Care where he now acts with 15 years industrial R&D experience as leading Principal Scientist in the design and synthesis of novel UV filters and smart Skin Care Actives, in particular small peptides and peptide mimetica. He developed several new classes of novel polymeric UV absorbers with exceptionally high absorption capacities and also novel chromophores. His scientific work resulted in over 15 granted patents.
