Abstract:
In recent years, carbon capture and storage (CCS) has gained significant momentum as a means to decarbonize the energy system. Subsurface CO2 sequestration has the potential to scale up to meet this challenge, contributing to global emission reductions as outlined by the International Energy Agency (IEA).
To ensure that the CO2 is reliably stored in the subsurface, regulators have mandated a series of monitoring, measurement, and verification (MMV) requirements for storage operators. Various technologies are required to monitor the surface, near-surface, and subsurface areas, as well as the integrity of the wells within the storage site. Properly employing multiphysics measurement technologies provides assurance of containment and ensures conformance with the injection plan.
This webinar will discuss different measurement technologies, the physics behind them, and their applications for CCS storage sites. We will also explore why these technologies are essential components of the MMV plan and review relevant case studies.
