Abstract:

As the HVAC market continues to expand and Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) technologies continue to evolve, the demand for professionals with VRF expertise will only grow. This presentation provides thorough insight into the requirements, advantages and opportunities associated with specifying VRF systems and addresses the common misconceptions professionals may encounter in the field. Additionally, the speakers will detail VRF-specific concepts including simultaneous heating and cooling as well as how VRF fits within building industry trends such as Strategic Electrification. 

Objectives:

  • Identify VRF system components as well as basic best practices for applications and installation.
  • Describe VRF-specific concepts and how VRF fits within building industry trends
  • Explain the similarities and differences between VRF systems and traditional HVAC systems regarding functionality, performance and installation requirements.
  • Dispel common myths and misconceptions about VRF systems including those related to ACCA sizing guidelines, wiring, piping and maintenance.
  • Make a case to company leadership and clients describing the advantages, opportunities and available resources associated with specifying, applying and installing VRF systems.

Kevin Miskewicz

Kevin leads the development and execution of commercial product strategies for Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US. Most recently, Kevin served as director of commercial marketing, leading the marketing strategies, programs and initiatives for the division’s commercial product line. He is a certified LEED® Green Associate. Before joining Mitsubishi Electric in 2014, he was the product manager for condensing units and controls at Heatcraft Worldwide Refrigeration, Stone Mountain, Georgia, and previously held global marketing and product management roles in the Consumables division at NCR Corporation, Atlanta. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Dayton.

Victor has been with Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US for four years and serves as an area sales manager working with developers, architects, consulting engineers and contractors on commercial properties. With over 25 years of experience in the HVAC industry, Victor has held a number of sales, marketing and management-related positions for HVAC design/build projects. An engineer by training, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University.
