
Lori Rodefeld
Director of GME Development
Wisconsin Collaborative for Rural Graduate Medical Education (WCRGME)
Lori Rodefeld serves as the Director of GME Development at the Wisconsin Collaborative for Rural Graduate Medical Education (WCRGME) where she engages with stakeholders statewide to expand rural residency training and support the 25+ rural residency programs in her state. She also serves as the Director of GME Development with the HRSA-funded Rural Residency Planning and Development and Teaching Health Center Planning and Development Technical Assistance Centers. Prior to working in GME development, she spent over 10 years at the SSM Monroe Hospital where she led efforts to develop three new GME programs, including the first AOA accredited rural track program in the country and first family medicine residency in Wisconsin in over 20 years.
She serves as a member of the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) UME-GME Task Force, Board Member and GME Consultant for the Rural Medical Training Collaborative, GME Consultant for the UNC Cecil G Sheps Center, Board President of GME Transformation, Member of the Wisconsin Council for Medical Education and Workforce (WCMEW) Clinical Training Sites Workgroup, Member of the NRHA Government Affairs Committee, and as Board Member of the WiNC GME Consortium. Her research interests include development of state GME funding models, GME in critical access hospitals, strategies to grow residencies in high need specialties including psychiatry, surgery, and OB/GYN, as well as state and federal GME policy development.

Charlie Alfero
GME Specialist
University of Arizona, Area Health Education Centers Program
Charlie Alfero is a GME Specialist with the University of Arizona Area Health Education Centers and an independent consultant with the University of North Carolina's GME Technical Assistance Center and SHEPs Center. With over 46 years in rural health policy and program development, His work centers on advancing healthcare access and equity through systems change, policy support, and program development. He previously founded the NM Primary Care Training Consortium and led that and the Center for Health Innovation as executive director. He also served as CEO of Hidalgo Medical Services. He has held multiple leadership roles in New Mexico health organizations and currently concentrates on primary care GME program and policy development.
