Abstract:

This course will introduce attendees to ANSI / CSA / IGSHPA C448 Series – 16 and provide an overview of the design and installation of ground source heat pump systems for commercial, residential and institutional buildings. This course will help architects, engineers, tradespeople, facilities managers and building owners become fluent with regard to heat pump implementation. The instructors will teach attendees how to install vertical configured closed-loop ground source heat pump systems; install horizontal configured closed-loop ground source heat pump systems; and install surface water (including submerged exchangers) heat pump systems. This course will also review the recommended best practices for the safe operation of buildings, including closure and reopening of building HVAC and water systems with a focus on COVID-19 and Legionella management. Attendees can earn credit 2.0 HSW | LUs through the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and 0.2 CEUs through the International Code Council (ICC).

Jay has co-authored two McGraw-Hill textbooks focused on geothermal HVAC technologies, and he continues to write curriculum and lecture on the merits of clean heating and cooling technologies.
