Coinciding with the release of the new 2024 Top 400 Contractors list, this popular annual webinar invites leaders from this year’s top-ranked firms to talk about the challenges of the year gone by and how they plan to succeed in the year ahead.
Editor of ENR’s Top Lists, Jonathan Keller, will discuss the results of the Top 400 survey, as well as moderate a panel of executives from the largest contracting firms as they discuss the industry’s pressing issues, from workforce challenges to data security.

Ryan Abbott President, Southwest Region Clayco As President, Ryan is responsible to accelerate the growth and performance of all the Clayco business units (including subsidiaries Concrete Strategies, Lamar Johnson Collaborative and Clayco Design and Engineering) in our nation's Southwest Region. He is a modern construction leader, national lecturer and educator on integrated project delivery methods, and has had his work published both locally and nationally in many industry-leading periodicals.
Ryan has redefined the design-builder’s role in solving grand challenges, believing that modern challenges require a new multi-disciplinary, collaborative approach. His talent for understanding complex, highly technical, large-scale projects has been demonstrated on jobs which have collectively netted more than 61 awards for design & construction excellence.
Ryan was named one of the 2012 Building Design + Construction 40 Under 40 and the 2011 Engineering News-Record (ENR) Top 20 under 40 for his extensive professional accomplishments and active role in the industry and community.
He’s a believer in the American Dream ethos of upward social mobility through hard work, education and critical thinking. He lives in Tempe Arizona with his wife Martha and their three boys, Tristyn, Ashtyn, and Aidyn.
Chuck Binkowski Chief Operating Officer Barton Malow Few construction professionals are as well versed as Chuck Binkowski, Barton Malow’s
Chief Operating Officer. Chuck followed in his father’s footsteps out of high school and
joined Barton Malow as a laborer in the summer of 1981. A second-generation builder,
Chuck has worked as a laborer, carpenter, cement finisher, general superintendent,
general manager, vice president, senior vice president before becoming COO. He even
had a brief stint in business development. And at the age of 58, Chuck became a Harvard
graduate when he completed the Harvard Business School Advanced Management
Program in 2022.
Chuck wasn’t the only one who joined the family business. His brothers Tom and Don
also work at Barton Malow, and his sister spent time working for the enterprise as
well. Chuck’s son, Dalton, a third-generation builder, is a Senior Project Engineer
at Barton Malow.
In his current role, Chuck works to position Barton Malow for growth and transformation,
with a focus on execution, customer service, building relationships, and delivering results
on complex projects.
Outside of Barton Malow, Chuck is active in the community and various industry
associations to help move the industry forward. He sits on the Board of Directors of Life
Remodeled, a non-profit that works to repurpose vacant school buildings into community
resources. He’s also very involved with Stoney Creek Church in Utica, Michigan. He also
coached football at Romeo High School, something that he would eventually like to
do again one day.
Chuck is also involved with the American Concrete Institute (ACI), American Society of
Concrete Contractors (ASCC), and The Association of Union Constructors (TAUC).
Chuck also enjoys hunting, fishing, and golfing, and spending time with his family,
especially his young grandchildren. As a former Michigan Music Association first-place
drum solo winner, he’s also known to get behind the kit from time to time
Jack Sample President, Eastern U.S. PCL Construction Jack brings over 30 years of construction experience to his role overseeing PCL’s buildings operations east of the Rockies, including offices in Colorado, Minnesota and Florida. Since joining PCL in 1994, Jack has worked in various roles contributing to his strong understanding of business and industry trends, and lending to a proactive approach during construction. Jack has served on the American Cancer Society Denver Board since 2020.
