Your Enterprise and the FCC’s Adopted Rules on Dispatchable Location and Implementing Kari’s Law

Start Date:10/31/2019

Start Time:2:00 PM EDT

Duration:60 minutes

Abstract:

In August 2019, the FCC adopted rules to implement Kari’s Law and Section 506 of RAY BAUM’S Act in an effort to provide Americans with quicker access to 911 services. With an applicable date of February 16, 2020, businesses operating MLTS have a simple question: how do these rules impact my enterprise?

The answer isn’t simple as it varies depending on each enterprise’s situation. Intrado’s VP of Regulatory Policy and External Affairs, Mary A. Boyd, and Intrado’s VP of Delivery and Operations for Enterprise 911 solutions, Lev Deich, discuss the FCC’s ruling to address 911 calls made from MLTS, and how these rules affect enterprises.

Key topics of discussion include:

  • A brief overview of Kari’s Law and the FCC’s Dispatchable Location rule
  • How dispatchable location rules apply to non-fixed MLTS devices, hosted VoIP, and teleworkers
  • Clarifying the grandfathering clause in the FCC’s Report and Order
  • Applying federal legislations in states that already passed 911 MLTS regulations
After the presentation, Mary and Lev answer questions from the audience during a moderated Q&A session.
