Adam J. Zolotor, MD, DrPH, is a Professor of Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and Associate Director for Medical Education at North Carolina Area Health Education Centers (NC AHEC).. Dr. Zolotor has practiced family medicine in a small-town practice, rural emergency department, county health department, and academic center. Dr. Zolotor is well known nationally for his work on child abuse prevention. Dr. Zolotor served the North Carolina Institute of Medicine as Vice President and President and CEO from 2012-2020 leading many new statewide policy initiatives. Dr. Zolotor’s current work focuses on graduate medical education, access to care, rural health care, and drivers of health.

Paulette Wehner, MD, FACC, FACCP, FAHA, FACP

Dr. Wehner has been a part of Marshall University School of Medicine (MUSOM) since 1995. In her 25 plus years, she has served in various capacities. She has been a practicing interventional cardiologist, cardiology program director, and currently serves as the Vice-Dean of GME. In 2014, Dr. Wehner established the Marshall Community Health Consortium (MCHC) to facilitate community-based residency programs and began with successful conversion of an osteopathic FM residency at Holzer Medical Center to ACGME accreditation. Subsequently, she has been the recipient of 3 Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) rural residency planning and development grants, including Teaching Health Center (THC) GME.

Brandon Krout, MD

Dr. Brandon Krout is a current PGY-2 Psychiatry resident at GA South in Moultrie, GA. He attended Brigham Young University-Hawaii on a Cross Country and Track scholarship earning All-Conference four years in a row. He attended medical school and graduated with the degree of Doctor of Medicine from St Martinus University. Most recently, Dr. Krout was the Dean of Clinical Science for St Martinus University, where he developed and implemented the curriculum and policies to allow for the university to gain accreditation, leaving that position to join the program in Moultrie.

Rizwana Ashraf, MD

A native of Sugarland, Texas, Dr. Rizwana Ashraf knew from a very young age that she held a special passion for healthcare. As a child, she spent many hours in the hospital with her brother who suffered from a condition that required frequent medical attention. During this time, she developed an admiration for physicians and healthcare workers as she witnessed their dedication to helping her brother get better. That is when she realized that one day, she wanted to offer compassionate and empathetic care to others in their most vulnerable moments. She chose Georgia South because she felt there was a shortage of physicians, especially Psychiatrists in the area, and she knew she would be able to make a difference in the community.

Shawnette Alford, C-TAGME

Shawnette Alford is an experienced Graduate Medical Education professional that has 20 years of knowledge and leadership in healthcare with 15 years in an academic setting. She currently serves as the Executive Director of Graduate Medical Education (GME) at Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine (OCOM) and the Assistant Director of GME at Dr. Kiran C. Patel Institute for GME. In addition, she is an advisor for the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) for new grantees who were awarded a RRPD/THC grant. She serves on the advisory committee for the WCRGME Leadership Institute. A Philadelphia native and experienced healthcare professional, Ms. Alford is passionate and dedicated to a career in academic medicine. Her mission is to ensure that residency programs will provide a supportive environment for residency training that is balanced, and wellness focused.

Chad Toujague, MSA, CAA
Education and Operations Director

Mr. Toujague is a principal with Medical Impact Partners. In 2015, Chad Toujague founded Halo Health, an anesthesia staffing company to help the oldest-running public hospital in the United States continue their surgical services. This public/private relationship allowed the hospital to drastically improve its volume, outcomes, and efficiency to continue for an additional 4 years. Until recently, Mr. Toujague led the Halo Health Anesthesia team and specialized in Trauma, Obstetrics and Cardiac. Mr. Toujague’s current goals are in line with his role as managing partner of the Global Health Initiative, LLC and Medical Impact Partners to diversify the medical profession’s field and increase access to higher education with a focus on the development of medical schools and allied health programs, efficient delivery of education and the fostering of clinical relationships that lead to improved teaching and improved outcomes. Mr. Toujague is a board-certified anesthesia provider (CAA) and holds a Masters of Anesthesia from Nova Southeastern University and a BS in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Florida.
