Friday’s employment report was expected to show record job losses and a record high unemployment rate. Forecasts ranged from awful to worse, but we all knew April would be bad. The majority of jobs lost are COVID-related furloughs resulting from the voluntary decision to lockdown the economy. What we don’t know, now that most of the economy is shut down, is how quickly we can start it up again. The restart is the true test. Chris gives a recap of the latest economic data, including the April jobs numbers and our thoughts on the reopening.
