Colin Hill, Ph.D

Professor

University College Cork

Professor Hill has a Ph.D in molecular microbiology and works as a Professor in the School of Microbiology at University College Cork in Ireland. He is also a founding Principal Investigator in APC Microbiome Ireland, a large research centre devoted to the study of the role of the gut microbiota in health and disease. He is particularly interested in the effects of bacteriocins and bacteriophages on community structure and function. He has published more than 600 papers and holds 25 patents. In 2009 he was elected as a Member in the Royal Irish Academy, the highest honour for an Irish academic. In 2010 he became a Fellow in the American Academy of Microbiology and in 2010 he was awarded the Elie Metchnikoff Prize for Microbiology. More than 90 PhD students have been trained in his laboratory.

Erik Eckhardt Ph.D

Postbiotics Platform Lead

Dr. Eckhardt obtained a PhD in Biochemistry at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. After his postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School, he became assistant professor at the University of Kentucky, where he conducted several NIH-funded research projects, with joint appointments in the Graduate Center for Nutritional Sciences and the departments of Internal Medicine and of Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics. He has published more than 30 papers and patents. Since 2012 he has been working in the industry for human and animal nutrition, working on solutions for digestive health and immunity. In 2021 he joined Adare Biome as R&D director, to develop postbiotics for digestive and overall health, and has been Postbiotic Platform Lead at dsm-firmenich since the acquisition of Adare Biome.

Sonja Kleinke

Global Marketing Manager - Health from the Gut

Sonja Kleinke graduated in food engineering at Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University Bonn in Germany. After her graduation she has worked in various sales positions for multi-national companies like Cargill and Chr. Hansen in food, pharma and dietary supplements business. Since 2021 Sonja has been part of dsm-firmenich Health, Nutrition & Care. Today she is leading the marketing activities for Health from the Gut in Dietary Supplements.

David Paxton

Global Healthcare Brand Director

David has over 10 years experience in leading global brands and marketing, especially in OTC and Rx. Since 2023, David joined the iHealth Healthcare team, including the Lacteol brand, leading and overseeing the strategy and execution, HCP and consumer engagement and expansion with a focus on the US launch in 2024. A UK national, David has been based in Basel, Switzerland since 2012 with his boyfriend and dog.
