Dr Yanan Wang Research Scientist, Microbiomes for One Systems Health (MOSH) Future Science Platform, CSIRO Yanan has a combined background in nutrition and the microbiome. She completed her PhD in Human Nutritional Sciences at the University of Manitoba, Canada, in 2016, and subsequently pursued postdoctoral training in the microbiome field with South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute’s (SAHMRI) microbiome team in Adelaide. Her research interest lies in the interplay between diet, gut microbiota, and host health. A primary focus of her work is to assess the prebiotic effect of dietary fibre in altering the gut microbiota and improving conditions such as hypercholesterolemia, obesity, and intestinal inflammation. Additionally, she has worked on numerous projects assessing the association between gut microbiota and a wide range of health conditions, including allergy, sleep, and children’s behavioural problems. Her work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals in the field, such as Gut Microbes, SLEEP, and Microbiome. She is currrently leading the Baby Gut Health Study at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), which aims to develop an effective dietary strategy to shape a resilient microbiome in early life and promote lifelong health benefits.
