Cliff joined Baron Capital in 1997 as a portfolio manager and was named co-chief investment officer in 2020. He has 40 years of research experience. From 1984 to 1996, he worked at HPB Associates as a securities analyst and fund manager; he was named general partner in 1991. Cliff graduated from Cornell University with a B.A. in Government in 1981 and from Columbia Law School with a J.D. in 1984.

Laird joined Baron Capital in 2000 as a research analyst and was named portfolio manager in 2013. He has 27 years of research experience. From 1999 to 2000, he worked at Water Street Capital as a research analyst. From 1992 to 1997, he worked at Ford Motor Company in various roles. Laird graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in Economics in 1992 and from Columbia Business School with an M.B.A. in 1999.

Randy joined Baron Capital in 2002 as a research analyst and was named portfolio manager in 2013. He has 27 years of research experience. From 1997 to 2002, he worked at ING Furman Selz, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, and Tyndall Partners as a research analyst. From 1992 to 1997, he worked at Salomon Green & Ostrow as a bankruptcy litigation attorney. Randy graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Economics in 1989, cum laude from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law with a J.D. in 1992, and from Columbia Business School with an M.B.A. in 1999.

David joined Baron Capital in 2006 as a research analyst and was named assistant portfolio manager of Baron Small Cap Fund in 2016. He has 21 years of research experience. From 2001 to 2004, he worked at Claiborne Capital Group as a research analyst. From 1999 to 2001, he worked at Banc of America Securities as an investment banking health care analyst. David graduated cum laude from Duke University with a B.S. in Economics in 1999 and from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with an M.B.A. in 2006.

David joined Baron in 2010 as head of national accounts and was named head of intermediary sales and national accounts in 2015. From 1997 to 2010, David worked at Morgan Stanley and its predecessor firms where he was appointed managing director and head of traditional strategies research in 2006. From 1995 to 1997, he worked at Alliance Capital as an investment analyst and marketing specialist. From 1994 to 1995, he worked at Gruntal & Co. as an equity research associate. David graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in Political Science in 1993 and from New York University Stern School of Business with an M.B.A. in 2001.
