Joe Katterfield is a business development manager at Arla Foods Ingredients (AFI), a global leader in value-added whey and milk protein ingredients and a subsidiary of Arla Foods Amba, headquartered in Aarhus, Denmark. He is a member of the strategic business unit ‘health & performance nutrition', a commercial group that focuses on the development and supply of unique whey protein and native milk protein ingredients, to enable cutting-edge consumer products within beverage, health and high-end sports nutrition categories. One of his main activities is the analysis of market developments, product launches, consumer trends and purchase drivers relating to functional protein beverages, to create inspirational product concepts and resources that promote AFI's protein ingredient portfolio. In addition, he guides prospective beverage brands and manufacturers on protein beverage concept development and technical considerations, to support new product development that increases business opportunities in this growing category. Before joining AFI, for 8 years Joe worked in R&D for numerous food and beverage manufacturers, launching commercial beverages and nutritional products into the UK, Denmark, and the USA. Joe holds an MSc Food Science from the University of Reading, and BSc Sport & Exercise Nutrition from Leeds Carnegie.
