Abstract:

As the HVAC market continues to expand and Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) technologies continue to evolve, the demand for contractors with VRF expertise will only grow. This presentation provides thorough insight into the requirements, advantages and opportunities associated with specifying VRF systems and addresses the common misconceptions contractors may encounter in the field. Additionally, the speakers will detail VRF-specific concepts including simultaneous heating and cooling as well as how VRF fits within building industry trends such as Strategic Electrification.

  • Identify VRF system components as well as basic best practices for applications and installation.
  • Describe VRF-specific concepts and how VRF fits within building industry trends.
  • Explain the similarities and differences between VRF systems and traditional HVAC systems regarding functionality, performance and installation requirements.

Kevin is the senior director of vertical markets, leading targeted business development initiatives along with commercial contractor development and commercial business strategy for Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US (METUS). Since joining the company in 2014, Kevin has held a number of product and marketing leadership positions, most recently serving as the director of commercial product planning. Dedicated to the field, Kevin is a certified LEED® Green Associate and hosts industry webinars, sharing insights on Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) technology. Prior to his work at Mitsubishi Electric, he held product and global marketing roles with Heatcraft Worldwide Refrigeration, Stone Mountain, Georgia, and NCR Corporation, Atlanta. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Dayton.

Sr Manager Commercial Channel

As the Senior Manager of the HVAC Commercial Channel for Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US, Mike is part of the team that creates sales, marketing and channel development plans for the commercial markets in the United States for the CITY MULTI® Commercial VRF product line. A graduate of The Ohio State University, Mike is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio, a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), a LEED Green Associate and has over 30 years of experience in the commercial HVAC market, including 19 years as a Trane Account Manager in the Columbus, Ohio market. Mike is also an accomplished speaker in the building industry, having presented to a multitude of professional organizations including AIA, ASHRAE and USGBC.
