Guy Grace K-12 National Security Program Manager ASSA ABLOY Guy Grace has worked in the security field for 35 years. He served for over three decades as the Director of Security and Emergency Planning for Littleton Public Schools, a suburb of Denver, before retiring in 2020. Among many national awards and recognitions, Grace has received “Security Leader of the Year” and “Most Influential People in Security” honors from Security magazine, an SDM sister publication. Grace is a regular speaker at school safety trade conferences and a regular security media commentator for various trade magazines and media. He has diverse hands-on experiences in school safety regarding technology, processes, and emergency response. His specialty is understanding and recommending how life safety technology components can be deployed to help K-12 schools meet their all-hazard needs. In his role as a consultant, Grace has worked on many projects including duress systems with location services, analytic software for cameras, access control, and numerous other technologies. He also served on a team of school safety experts who conducted advanced student e-cigarette use assessments for secondary schools in school districts that are part of a massive federal civil action filed against JUUL and affiliate companies.
Chuck Wilson CEO NSCA Chuck Wilson is a founding partner and Board Chairman of the Partner Alliance for Safer Schools (PASS), and CEO of the National Systems Contractors Association (NSCA). He has spent his entire career at the leading edge of emerging technologies and has in-depth knowledge and experience with the impact on people, business, and society. At NSCA, much of Wilson’s time is spent assisting systems integrators with the challenges of today’s business environment. He often gives lectures and presentations at key industry events and national conferences on topics such as emerging technologies, systems integration, digital transformation, life safety systems, tech industry trends, improving school safety, small business strategies, smart and safe buildings, talent management, and client relations. Wilson has led the Electronic Systems Professional Alliance, the Connected Technologies Industry Consortium, was a founding partner for Integrated Systems Events, and is a member of the Audio Engineering Society, the American Society of Association Executives, and the Construction Specification Institute. Wilson has served on his local school board as well as community enhancement councils. His expertise in school safety technology and school board experience drove his passion for making schools safer and his involvement with PASS.
David Klug Regional Director Convergint Technologies LLC David Klug started his career as a forensic scientist at the Northern Illinois Police Crime Laboratory and earned a B.S. in criminalistics from the University of Illinois at Chicago and an M.S. in forensic science from the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy. He has presented professionally to the National Institute of Justice, American Academy of Forensic Sciences, Forensic Science Society (UK), International Association for Identification (AI), ISC West, International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), INTERPOL in Lyon, France, and various defense and homeland security groups. He was also a contributing member of the Department of Defense Gatekeeper On The Move – Biometrics (GOTM-B) team for contactless, multi-modal biometrics and threat detection. Today, David is responsible for state and local government and education strategic business development for Convergint Technologies’ eastern U.S. regions and leads Convergint’s Grants & Funding Team.
Brent VanHaren President & Visionary SecurAlarm Brent Van Haren serves as President & Visionary at SecurAlarm, a 30-year-old family business based in Grand Rapids, Mich. Van Haren joined SecurAlarm full-time in 2006 as a project manager, followed by manager of engineering and then COO before taking the role of president in 2016. He is also a partner at Secure Education Consultants, a team of experts whose mission is to bring the highest level of safety and security to schools and organizations throughout the country. Van Haren serves on multiple boards including the Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation, Reliable Fire and Security, and Family Business Alliance of Grand Rapids where he just completed his time as Board Chair.
