Abstract:
This experiential workshop will explore how we can use the principles and practices of mindfulness to help us generate calm, stability and compassion, even during difficult times. While the waves of health, emotional, and societal stressors may continue to wash over us, we have the capacity to develop inner resources, like mindfulness and compassion, that can help us stay emotionally and physically healthy. We will learn a number of practical tools and applications for effectively working with our minds, bodies, and nervous systems to maintain the balance that we seek.
This workshop will introduce concepts and practices from contemplative science, positive psychology, and trauma-informed mindfulness. We will explore how to build skills for tracking, grounding, and resourcing which can help us decrease our reactivity, build our stress resilience, and create new pathways for compassionate self-care. This all begins with mindful awareness which means paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally to what is within and around us. Participants will leave the workshop with a greater understanding of the steps they can take to cultivate stress resilience and mindfully meet the challenges in their lives.
