PROGRAM Date:3/17/2021
Program Overview:
Public companies have increasingly been called on by institutional investors, legislation, mandated quotas, disclosure requirements and various other approaches to enhance the diversity of their boards. While there has been notable progress toward more board diversity since California's landmark Women on Boards legislation was enacted in 2018, the issue remains the subject of intense debate and implementation of change has been sluggish overall. For example, Nasdaq has proposed new listing rules that would mandate more diversity, however other efforts to diversify boards have been challenged in court.
During this webinar, our panel of corporate governance thought leaders and public company directors will offer their insights on board diversity and address a variety of questions, including: How far can legislation go in requiring gender and racial parity? What are the unintended consequences and unexpected benefits? How are these laws likely to fare if/when challenged and does that matter?
