The omega-3 industry has benefited from decades of scientific research which has helped build strong consumer trust but with shoppers generally becoming increasingly sceptical about health claims and concerned about environmental sustainability, businesses have to step up to meet increasingly strict demands. From initial sourcing to final marketing, we will discuss the best techniques for building trust and transparency for omega-3 consumers concerned about personal and environmental health.




Camiel Derichs

Mr. Camiel Derichs is Program Development Director (PDD) for the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) appointed since April 1st, 2019. Before that, he has been leading the development of the MSC program across Europe as Regional Director Europe from 2013 till 2019.

Since 2005, Camiel served in a variety of other roles in the MSC. Setting up several regional offices in Netherlands, Sweden and working both with the technical development of the fisheries standards, as well as with actors in the supply chain on topics such as CSR and sustainable seafood procurement policies, as well as sustainable seafood marketing.

Before joining MSC, Camiel was working in the Multi- National Financial conglomerate, ING-Group as a product manager. He holds a BSc and MSc from Erasmus University Rotterdam (Netherlands) in Business Administration, and a MSc from Tromso University (Norway) in International Fisheries Management.

Ellen Schutt

Global Organization of EPA and DHA Omega-3s

Ellen Schutt is the Executive Director of GOED, the Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3s. Ellen has been with the company for seven years, and now oversees all aspects of the organization’s mission to increase consumption of EPA and DHA omega-3s as well as to protect the category by ensuring GOED members are manufacturing quality products that consumers can trust.

Ellen previously directed GOED’s communications strategy for industry and consumers and was instrumental in organizing a successful consumer education campaign in 2015. She continues to work on high level initiatives such as building a healthcare professional education program and coordinating the efforts of GOED’s Executive Council on Education and Outreach, which funds many of GOED’s strategic initiatives.

With 20 years of experience in the natural products industry, Ellen is the former editor of Nutraceuticals World magazine, an industry trade publication, and owner of Schutt Solutions, a consulting business focused on supporting growth in the dietary supplement industry.

She has a degree in Communication and Media from Bournemouth University as well as a diploma in Journalism. While working as a Reporter for newspapers around Sussex she passed her national qualification in Senior Journalism and became a Senior Reporter for the company.
