Over the past decade, congenital syphilis cases have risen 937%, highlighting the critical importance of early detection through testing. 1 This webinar will highlight the value of rapid syphilis testing at the point-of-care (POC) for pregnant populations in the efforts to reduce congenital syphilis rates. Dr. Irene Stafford and Dr. Jeffrey Klausner will review lessons learned and offer key insights from their implementation practices, with time at the end for a Q&A session. Learning objectives

 Dr. Irene Stafford Associate Program Director, Maternal-fetal Medicine Fellowship, Houston, Texas McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center Dr. Stafford started her career with a Master of Science degree in Microbiology and Molecular Medicine. After medical school, she pursued OB/Gyn residency at The Louisiana State University and Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship at UT Southwestern in Dallas, TX, where she was able to explore and publish in the field of clinical STI research. She subsequently joined faculty in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas McGovern Medical School where she has created a new bridge between the basic and clinical science departments that continues to benefit the school of medicine, fellows, residents and medical students at the university. Dr Stafford has been awarded NIH and institutional grants surrounding STI and perinatal syphilis and multiple have resulted from her work and dedication to this field.
 Dr. Jeffrey Klausner Professor of Medicine and Public Health Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California Dr. Klausner is a Professor of Medicine, Infectious Disease, Population and Public Health. He is a former CDC Medical Officer and former Deputy Health Officer at the San Francisco Department of Public Health and Director of Sexually Transmitted Disease Prevention Services. Dr. Klausner serves as an expert advisor to the WHO and CDC on sexually transmitted infections and is the editor of the textbook Current STD Management. Dr. Klausner is an NIH-funded principal investigators whose research interest include syphilis diagnostics, immunology, and syphilis vaccine development. Dr. Klausner has over 700 peer-reviewed publications.
