
KATHLEEN BERTRAND
Jazz Artist
Jazz vocalist Kathleen Bertrand has been performing since the age of 11. The Atlanta native is a recording artist and writer whose jazz or gospel performances have ranged from church sanctuaries to Olympic Games to U.S. presidents to worldwide jazz festivals. Bertrand toured and recorded as vocalist with jazz vibraphonist Roy Ayers. She was voted Jazz Vocalist of the Year by Black Women in Jazz in 2015 and recognized by Spelman College with its distinguished Alumnae Achievement Award for the Arts & Entertainment.
Bertrand has opened for many of America’s finest jazz artists, including Ray Charles, Will Downing, Rachelle Ferrell, Najee, Roy Ayers, and Kenny G. In July 2020, millions across America and the world heard Bertrand’s soulful vocals as she paid tribute to the late Congressman John Lewis during his nationally televised final services with her moving rendition of If I Can Help Somebody.
