Abstract
Based in Marion, MI, Pollington Machine Tool is a contract manufacturer for various industries, including aerospace, military and automotive. Founded in 1966, Pollington recently added assembly capabilities to its line-up of machining and fabrication services. One of the company’s first projects was final assembly of a complex product for an automotive OEM. To get the green light from the OEM to safely launch mass production, Pollington first had to pass inspection for 2,000 assemblies. After three months of trying, however, the company still hadn’t succeeded. Then, after implementing a manufacturing execution system (MES), Pollington passed the safe launch in two weeks. Join Chris Stewart, manufacturing engineer at Pollington, as he relates how the company passed the safe launch and how manufacturing technology like MES software helped Pollington achieve repeatable quality in production. In this webinar, you’ll learn:
- How to create consistent and concise work instructions for the assembly process.
- How images and video can assist with work instructions, especially for a multilingual workforce.
- The importance of traceable quality data in the automotive industry.
