Alison Leventhal Joucovsky
Alison Leventhal Joucovsky MA LPC has been working in the field of aging for over 30 years. She started her career graduating from The Ohio State University with a Degree in Human Development with a specialization in aging She received her Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado specializing as a Geriatric therapist and then worked for Jewish Family Service of Colorado as a Community Organizer and Program Coordinator starting aging in place neighborhood programs. In 2015 in reaction to the affordable housing crisis facing Colorado she founded Sunshine Home Share Colorado, the first nonprofit home sharing program in the state where she is currently figuring out how to be an Executive Director. She is on the Board of Directors of the National Shared Housing Resource Center and recently partnered with the Anschutz School of Aging and Policy and Veterans Administration to complete a nationwide research project on shared housing programs. In 2019 she was named Whose Who in Housing by the Denverite magazine and has presented the home sharing model at statewide conferences focusing on both housing and health recognizing the intersection are intertwined in wellbeing. Sunshine has expanded from the Denver metro area to Colorado Springs recognizing that the affordable housing crisis spans the entire state of Colorado.
