 Stephen Brown Senior Advisor Board Leadership Center KPMG Stephen L. Brown is a globally recognized governance professional, thought leader and trusted advisor to corporate boards and C-suites. Currently, he is a Senior Advisor at KPMG Board Leadership Center where advises business leaders on key governance challenges, including shareholder activism and engagement, board composition, ESG risks and strategy. Brown has been named by NACD as one of the 100 most influential people in corporate governance and the boardroom.
Formerly, he was CEO of the Society of Corporate Governance and led the corporate governance group at TIAA/Nuveen. Prior to TIAA, Brown practiced securities law at WilmerHale and Skadden and was an associate with Goldman Sachs.
He serves on several advisory and nonprofit boards including, John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance at Univ. of Delaware, Rutgers Law School Center for Corporate Law & Corporate Governance, CEOs for Corporate Purpose CEO Investor Network, and Reuben Mark Initiative for Organizational Character and Leadership at Columbia University.
Mr. Brown received his B.A. with honors from Yale University and his J.D. from Columbia University Law School where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar.

In particular, Pamela regularly advises boards of directors and management on a variety of topics, including crisis preparedness, mitigation and response; management succession plans; board composition, refreshment, succession and director independence; shareholder engagement and activism defense; shareholder proposals and proxy season trends; environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues; and cybersecurity matters.
