Abstract:
Congress and President Trump enacted a broad, bipartisan $2.2 trillion economic stimulus law designed to fight the nationwide financial impact of the coronavirus by sending many Americans $1,200 checks, increasing funding for unemployment benefits and offering small businesses money to pay their employees, among other benefits. The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act addresses help for seven main groups: individuals, small businesses, big corporations, hospitals and public health, federal safety net, state and local governments, and education. There is still a lot we don’t know about how this going to impact Oregonians, Oregon business and state government. Hear from AARP leadership including Bill Sweeney, Senior Vice President for Government Affairs and Elaine Ryan at AARP, Vice President for State Advocacy, Strategy and Integration. They will help us navigate this vast legislation, what it means to Oregon and take your questions.
