From the Idea to Realization: Meeting the Inventor of Bipolar Enucleation of the Prostate (BipolEP)

Professor Thomas R.W. Herrmann is the Clinical Director of Urology and Chairman at Spital Thurgau AG, Switzerland. He is Professor of Urology at his Alma Mater Hanover Medical School (MHH), Germany and Visiting Professor at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. Thomas Herrmann is a renown international faculty and speaker on many occasions of mayor meetings as well as surgeon in live and semi-live surgery. He is a member of several national and international societies as well as Associate Editor World of J Urology and SIU Journal. His current focus lays on transurethral enucleation techniques (AEEP) of the prostate and robotic surgery of benign and malignant conditions of prostate, kidney and bladder.

Dr. Lusuardi is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Urology, at Paracelsus Medical University (PMU) Hospital in Salzburg, Austria. He completed his medical degree and urology residency at Università degli Studi di Verona, Italy. He subsequently was appointed consultant urologist and director of pediatric urology at General Hospital Bolzano, Italy. He was then appointed consultant urologist and vice chair at PMU University Hospital in Salzburg, Austria. At PMU University Hospital in Salzburg he achieved the “venia docendi” for urology and after working as head of the department of urology in Bressanone, Italy for three years he moved back to Salzburg as Head and Chairman of the Department of Urology, at PMU University Hospital in Salzburg, Austria. Dr. Lusuardi is author of over 100 peer-reviewed publications and has authored many book chapters.mainly in the field of bladder cancer, minimal invasive treatment of benign prostate syndrome and laparoscopy. He is a member of various urological societies: e.g. the European Association of Urology (EAU), the Societè International d’Urologie (SIU) and the Österreichische Gesellschaft für Urologie (ÖGU), the Societá Italiana di Urologia. He is Board Member of the ESUT (EAU Section of Uro-Technology), Associate Editor of the World Journal of Urology and vice chair of the German Working Group Endourology (Arbeitskreis Endourologie der DGU). Additionally he is registered reviewer for several international journals such as International Urology, Gold Journal of Urology, Canadian Journal of Urology.
