As a former board member of the Global Food Safety Initiative, he has a track record of driving cultural change in complex, multinational environments and has deep experience in confectionery, dairy, plant-based foods, beverages, and many other sectors. Wherever he has worked in the last 30 years, he has been a champion of pragmatic risk assessment and management, enabling fast decision making and driving innovation. John has a B.Eng. in chemical engineering from London South Bank University and an M.B.A. from Cambridge University.

He spent a decade in consulting as a director with Ernst & Young, was the head of data & analytics at Caltex, and was global general manager of data & analytics at a major quality assurance and food safety provider. Peter is currently the founder and CEO of the analytics & insights company inGenious inSights and the co-founder and principal data scientist at insightfactory.ai. He has years of experience in applying machine learning to food safety, audit, and compliance programs across supply chains.

With over 25 years of experience in the food sector, Stuart specializes in helping clients develop customized compliance solutions that meet the requirements of their business and mitigate the ever-changing risks of global supply chains. From supplier onboarding and risk management processes to retail global audit programs, Stuart has worked with a number of recognized brand names on challenging and delivering the right solution at the right time.
Having begun his working life as an enforcement officer for the UK government, he moved into more technical and commercial roles for international companies. He believes that it is the job of the business assurance program provider to continually challenge its customers to continually improve, share best practices, and learn with them every step of the way.

Barbara VanRenterghem, Ph.D., is the editorial director of Food Safety Magazine, a position she has held since 2008. From 2005–2008, she was the chief editor of Controlled Environments Magazine and the science editor of Animal Lab News and Lab Manager Magazine at Vicon Publishing. At Eaton Publishing (1999–2005), she rose from the positions of assistant scientific editor for BioTechniques and acquisitions editor for BioTechniques Press to the editor of content development and acquisitions and director of commercial product development. While at Eaton (then acquired by Informa), she served as the chief editor of Preclinica. She received a B.Sc. in biology in 1989 from Bowling Green State University and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology in 1994 from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
