Greg Dunkle

Chief Administrative Officer

With over 25 years of experience managing full-service construction companies, Greg Dunkle is an expert in development, design, pre-construction, and construction services spanning multiple markets and sectors. As Chief Administrative Officer of the STO Building Group, Greg is responsible for the overall direction and leadership of STOBG’s Corporate Services group, including Human Resources, Information Technology, Safety, Risk Management, Legal Services, and Compliance & Audit. He also plays a key role in the company’s merger and acquisition process, strategic planning, and various operational improvement initiatives. Prior to joining STOBG, Greg served as Executive Vice President, Eastern Division Manager, for Tutor Perini Corporation and spent 22 years with Gilbane Building Company. Greg’s dedication to our industry extends to the community as well. He is a member of the national board of directors for the ACE Mentor Program, which connects architecture, engineering, and construction professionals to high school students to inspire them to pursue AEC careers. Greg is also a LEED Accredited Professional, a CMAA Certified Professional, and OSHA 30-Hour certified. He holds a bachelor of architectural engineering degree in construction management from Penn State.

Luke Spalj

CEO

Water Resources Group, Deerwood, Minn.

Luke Spalj was born and raised in the construction business working from youth into adulthood for the family owned and operated Spalj Construction Co. until its sale to power sector contractor Quanta Services in 1997. He worked for Quanta Services, eventually becoming president of its telecommunication and specialty services division, until his departure in 2004.

Luke was the chairman of Rice Lake Construction Group from 2004-2017, becoming one year later, CEO of Deerwood, Minn.-based Water Resources Group, one of the region's largest privately held firms serving the water treatment and utility construction markets, with operations also in western states. It is the parent of Rice Lake Construction and Stanek Constructors Inc. WRG provides over 60 years of water-related expertise and averages revenue of $150 million per year. It ranks at No. 83 on the current ENR Top 200 Environmental Firms list. Luke has overseen more than $2 billion of successfully delivered water and wastewater projects

Brett Thompson

Project Executive

Gilbane Building Company

Starting as an intern at Gilbane Building Co., Brett Thompson has worked his way up to Project Executive. He is currently managing the $200 million construction of the new Virginia General Assembly Building in Richmond, Va., and is one of the founding members of the contractor’s Innovation Council. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Building Construction.

Brett has always been a proponent of improving processes and finding new technologies to increase project efficiency; this commitment was only strengthened during the pandemic. He is currently using Versatile’s CraneView technology on the Virginia project, along with others such as Kastle Camera Systems and leveraging virtual site tours with 360 cameras. His collaborative relationship with the development teams of these technologies helped drive project efficiencies to new heights.
