Dave Nadig, managing director of ETF.com, sits down with Dave Mazza, managing director, head of product at Direxion, to get his insights into:

Dave Mazza

Managing Director, Head of Product

David leads product R&D, strategy and management for Direxion.

Previously, he was head of ETF investment strategy at OppenheimerFunds, and led the firm’s ETF investment marketing and ETF specialist teams. Prior to joining OppenheimerFunds, David led product strategy, positioning and analysis as a managing director and head of ETF and mutual fund research at State Street Global Advisors (SSGA). Prior to that role, he was a member of SSGA’s Global Enhanced Equity group, responsible for stock selection research, portfolio management and product strategy across multiple quantitatively managed investment strategies.

David has a B.A. in political science and philosophy from Boston College and an MBA in finance from the Sawyer Business School at Suffolk University.

Dave is managing director of ETF.com. Previously, he was director of ETFs at FactSet Research Systems, a position he took when ETF.com divested itself of the ETF data business. Dave returned to ETF.com in November 2016, picking up after first joining the firm in 2008.

Dave has been involved in researching, reporting and analyzing the investment management industry for more than 20 years, and recently co-authored a definitive book on ETFs, A Comprehensive Guide To Exchange Traded Funds for the CFA Institute.

As a managing director at Barclays Global Investors, Dave helped design and market some of the first ETFs. With partner Don Luskin, he went on to found MetaMarkets.com, a revolutionary transparent mutual fund company that pushed fund disclosure to the top of the SEC agenda. As co-founder at Cerulli Associates in the early '90s, he conducted some of the earliest research on fee-only financial advisors and the rise of indexing. Dave is widely quoted in the financial press, a regular speaker at finance conferences, and publishes a widely read blog at ETF.com. He has an MBA in Finance from Boston University.
