An Analysis of Vacuum Insulated Glazing for the Architect and Glazier

Duration:60 minutes

Increasingly more stringent energy codes, greater demand for occupant comfort, a mandate to reduce first costs, and a societal drive toward sustainability has created a complex web of factors for designers and builders to consider when selecting façade glass elements. The second installment of a multi-part VIG series, this webinar will discuss specific factors driving demand for VIG and the design considerations from the perspective of an industry leading architectural consultant (Jeff Somerlot) and glazier (Nick Bagatelos). We will also incorporate specific responses to the feedback gathered during our first VIG webinar, which was held on August 1st 2019.

During this webinar, we will:

  • Identify and describe emerging trends in energy and carbon reduction programs in the United States and Canada
  • Describe the key factors and considerations when designing glazing systems for VIG
  • Describe specific examples of how VIG can meet tightening energy codes, aggressive building directives, and high-performance zoning bonuses
