Canadians and businesses are navigating a complex economic landscape with increasing housing and affordability concerns, pressing growth ambitions, and heightened geopolitical pressures. Measures announced in the 2024 Federal Budget will need to set Canada on a path toward stability and future growth, advancing the green agenda, prioritizing Canadian innovation, and making life more accessible and affordable.


This session will provide a timely summary of measures announced, including tax policy updates and how they may impact Canadians and businesses. KPMG senior leaders and the Honourable Bill Morneau will provide an overview and analysis of the budget, including tax policy insights in this session moderated by Jacqueline Hansen.

The Honourable Bill Morneau 
Former Minister of Finance for Canada

The Honourable Bill Morneau was Canada’s minister of finance from 2015 to 2020. Prior to his role as Finance Minister, he was Executive Chairman of Morneau Shepell, a leading benefits consulting firm. Mr. Morneau is active in international socio-economic forums including the IMF and the OECD and was the former Chair of the C.D. Howe Institute. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for CIBC and is an advisor to various organizations.

Jacqueline Hansen
Business Journalist

Jacqueline Hansen is the former host of The Close, BNN Bloomberg’s daily show that provides in-depth market coverage and analysis from experts, portfolio managers and company executives. Hansen previously served as a senior business reporter for CBC News, covering the day’s major business stories on various national programs, and was a producer for CBC’s flagship business program, The Exchange.
